Alternate Ammo modifies a specific weapon’s attributes for one clip’s worth of ammo.
Alternate Ammo can only be picked up by a player carrying the corresponding weapon.
What could some weapon’s Alternate Ammo properties be?
For example:
An Assault Rifle is effective to medium range and kills in medium time.
Using Alternate Ammo, an Assault Rifle now kills faster but has a reduced range.
Picking up Alternate Ammo gives you an advantage if you utilize it properly.
Can you think of how Alternate Ammo would modify a specific weapon?
It could be as simple as modifying the damage to range ratios or as complex as essentially creating a new weapon with Alternate Ammo (like how Chief fired a grenade out of a Pistol; the Pistol’s Alternate Ammo would radically modify its attributes).
Please discuss.
Maybe.
Incendiary rounds would come in handy against flood hosts.
I’m not sure, this could pose some problems for the balance in Halo, mainly in multiplayer- ‘that guy killed me because he had blah-blah ammo’
It seems like an interesting concept. In the Halo 4 teaser, John seemed to have two types of grenade types for his grenade launcher.

I actually think there’s a good chance of this making it in.
@ LolBrazlol.
Could be an only campaign feature.
It better be campaign only.

Correct me if i’m wrong but both grenades are exactly the same aren’t they?

I’m almost certain that they are. I always wondered, where did he pull the extra one from?

Oh, my bad. I think the lighting on pic 2 got me confused, it made the grenade look silver. Sorry.
Where did he get the other from? Apparently 343 made him pull it out of his Yoink!

Chief’s armour needs an assortment of pouches for sure. Even Noble team had pouches and such to store their ammunition. But yeah, maybe I’m taking this too seriously…
Sounds like it could work.
Reverting to H3 sniper and H3 rocket launcher, we could have a sniper magazine which causes huge recoil but extremely powerful penetration (like in Reach), rockets that home in on enemies (like in Reach, but more like H2 rls). And more importantly, stuff for the BR, which should have an adjustable firing mode. And of course, I mean for campaign.

Exactly. We don’t have to put whole new weapons in the game to have new features and we can regulate the use of Alternate Ammo through map design. Don’t want Incendiary Rounds to be used on a map? Don’t put that Alternate Ammo on that map. Easy.
No thanks.
Though your ideas are valid it just seems like more useless clutter in Multiplayer.
I don’t know why, but I remember when the Halo 4 trailer came out some people thought weapons might have multi-function in-game. For example, the pistol/GL we saw in the video.
I can’t get the terrible idea out of my head that Halo 4 will have multi-purpose guns like Perfect Dark did…

I liked Perfect Dark.

True.
There could also be scripted moments where some vehicles such as the warthog could have been equipped with incendiary rounds for the gatling gun after an outbreak of the flood to help combat against the parasite.
Shredder rounds for enemies similar to lightly armoured jackals and brutes; all kinds of possibilities.
Heck tracer rounds for offensive air-vehicles. Imagine tracer rounds blazing left right and centre on a night level like Two Betrayals.
I’ve been reading your posts lately (because you’ve been spamming the forums with crazy foolish ideas) and it literally seems like you’re trying to turn Halo in to CoD or BF3 or whatever other bad FPS you have encountered in your time. I do not support any of your ideas, nor are they “Halo-esk” in the slightest.

Lets play a game. You find one idea that I have posted and tell me where it is in cod or bf. OK go.
I don’t see alternate ammo as a necessity. We’ve got Shotgun for close range, AR for close to medium range, BR/DMR for medium to long range, Sniper for long to really long range. And we also have covenant versions of each. The needler has ammo that explodes after contact. Plasma burns through shields quickly but not through health as well. Bullets cut through shields and health equally as effectively. If you ask me we don’t need alternate ammo because we already have alternate weapons.

He did in Combat Evolved.
I made a comment that was actually pretty similar to this concept in another topic the other day.
It’d be cool to have Shredder Rounds for the Assault Rifle as a pickup, but only on certain maps, and only if it was done right.
