AI's reset to factory default

After clearing my computer and restoring it to factory defaults to give to a friend that needs a computer, it hit me: What if AI’s are the same way?
Yes I know there is proof of AI being deleted but what if it was just a cover?
Here’s my thought:

  • AI’s are programmed to believe that they only have 7 years before rampancy sets in and they have to be deleted. It could be a programming motivation to make sure that they become the best that they can be and push themselves to do everything that they can at a 100%. What better way to make someone work harder then tell them 7 years to accomplish your task then that’s it, Being that AI strive for knowledge and perfection this would drive them more. - Instead of being deleted, they are put into a sleep like mode sort of like a computer. What they think of as a flick of a switch to end them is actually just preserving them till they can be reset. - When the AI was reset, all previous memory was wiped out like a computer and set to default -AI would be almost brand new
    -No knowledge of previous experiences
-Would be able to choose another avatar if not the same to look like new
    -Would save money and resources
-Be more useful then just deleted
    In conclusion:
To me it just makes more sense to reset an AI back to factory default so to speak to have a valuable resource that can be reused then simply deleting it from existence. Why spend all that time, money, and resources on something when you know you’re only getting 7 years out of it? Just doesn’t add up.

It may soumd good but why do AIs still degenerate after seven years?

I mean, we know rampancy and the deterioration of AIs isn’t a ruse or false, we’ve got plenty of examples showing what happens to AIs after 7 or more years of service. There are outliers like Cortana or Deep Winter, of course, but we’ve seen cases like Sloan which show it isn’t fake. As for a hypothetical factory reset, I’d question if that is even possible. Smart AIs are created from human brains and you can’t just factory reset a human brain when something is wrong. The way an AI’s Riemann matrix is described, I don’t think you could reset it.

I’ve wondered that. If a forerunner AI can last thousands of years why can’t ours? Another question posed is that are there any ancient human AI’s still around and where can we find them.

I agree about the human part but I wonder with an AI being described as a computer version of the human brain, why couldn’t it be tricked into resetting sort of like what happens when a person goes through amnesia?

Well, is amnesia really factory treating the brain? I don’t think that’s really comparable. We’ve seen what happens when AIs try to manage their systems to stave rampancy, it doesn’t work for long.
