I’ve been thinking about making a narrative experience around an AI in Halo, even buying some domain names and really trying to flesh out a framed narrative story from a website in a ARG/community space.
But in recollection the last known addition to any of the stories around the AI’s in Halo was the most recent Banished AI Iratus created by Lux Voluspa does anyone know anything about the story being expanded from here on out? It would be nice see the likes of Black Box, Roland or even the newer Maya Sankar’s Cognitive Impression Modeled AI.

I just want to say that I have come full circle on the idea and launched a website and community around Lysithea and her persona (still working on this) as a ONI Section 3 construct. Would love for everyone to join and share feedback about it.

Saves me making a new topic.
Yes, I think they are with Irratus. We know he was created by a Company called Vox Volupsa and that the Banished stole him. This seems to make AI pretty central to conflict apart from finding the Infinity which has got another mention.
For now, given that they have teased this ONI door and imply something bad is sealed under the base this makes me think it’s going to go into ONI research into AI and the neural links. We pretty much know what ONI did with Spartans and that Halsey did some bad things. But, what if ONI had it’s own ideas and some these are what Irratus was looking for in Dins mind.
In the concept art book there are images in the multiplayer section of UNSC themed robots. I had assumed these were Created turned good. But it looks like they might be part of this ONI research thing. Have a single Spartan linked to an AI controlling a bunch of these drones. The show did really go there so it’s not that far fetched. That or there’s a bunch of on ice Spartans where they tried to practice getting the Chief/Cortana thing to work and it did not go well…
Also, my tin foil hat the Chief is in the Matrix theory just got a lot more plausible.
You see Irratus using those memories to put Din in a simulated world that he controls, spawn enemies and make up new scenarios that did not happen like the Pelican. Chief has a similar neural link so there’s absolutely no reason Cortana could not do that to Chief after he got thrown into space by Atriox. Hell if we’re going all in and she was just subtly manipulating his perceptions, you spend the entire game killing Cortanas enemies. It would explain a lot of the weird visions, events and whole yellow brick road stuff that happens.
It’s interesting. I just can’t get over that they’re doing a different AI heavy story. Like you just retconned an AI rebellion story just to do a different thing Irratus is doing. Like let’s say ONI was developing nasty AI stuff in the Covenant War and that’s what’s in the basement. The context is that none of this should be new; they’ve been through a huge AI rebellion. But they’re kind of acting like dealing with that situation is really novel. It feels like they really want to tell this kind of sci-fi story but have had to find some way to make it about the Banished.
