Air is still too op...

Its not balanced enough… anti air needs to be buffed a little bit more or air needs to be nerfed slightly because im sorry but even a half army of anti air units should demolish a full army of air…

Theres a reason why 3v3 matches are usually 90% air

And here comes all the people to defend air…

“Oooh another air is op topic”…

We see so many of these topics… maybe that means theres a big problem with air…

We dont see “hunters are too op!”

Either way… go ahead and post your strategies on how to counter an op unit… doesn’t change the fact that its op…

Or we could just say that 3s are a mess balance wise and that’s why air is viewed as OP

I agree. Air is op in 3v3. But only on 3v3
They deal too much damage to bases and are too fast.

My sugestions is to upgrade infantry to 2 or 3 and build marines(fully upgraded) to counter this cheesy strategy.
By the way, hunters, snipers or any other counter unit are op. Except wolverines.

Here we go again. Everything that has been said, and will be said, has likely already been covered in a previous post.

Mods, can we have a mega thread for this? We seem have a new post almost daily repeating the exact same thing.

It’s not op. Problem is you didn’t scout early game and probably built a bunch of snipers and by the time you checked their base they were already massing air and it was to late for you to build aa. If it’s late game and they switch to air you need to build nightingales with your wolverines or engineers with reavers. It’s really not hard to stop air you just need to scout and know exactly when they start building it so you can be on top of it.

You need to scout to see if your opponents are going air, and if you don’t scout, at least build around six aa units just to be safe. I always make some of my own air and a few aa just to be safe

Oooh another air is op topic

Reaver:“I’m under fire from air units! I will show them!”

^This^
Though I’m under the impression that that is basically by design, since 343i is looking to balance the 1s.
Balancing this for 3s would likely lead to air not being viable at all at a competitive level… It’d be reduced to glorified scouts.

As sad as it sounds for team players that is the case. Heck, even StarCraft 2 is unbalanced in teams. When the philosophy is to balance the game towards 1s team matches will naturally become less balanced

Losing to air in 3v3 settings is not something that would be resolved balance-wise. 3s are chaos and usually devolve into frantic bouts of spamming mass, single unit type armies anyways.

As for 2v2s, you can 100% stop air. It requires a bit of player skill, some game sense to understand positioning of AA, & proper scouting to determine strength of the enemy forces. All things considered, those skills are learned and acquired with a bit of application and time spent in-game.

Now, concerning 1v1s – losing to air here is a result of two common outcomes. 1) You lose the early game map control and find yourself cornered. While attempting to break free and regain map control, you’re swept aside by a reasonable mass of air units because while you were fighting off one army, the opponent expanded & upgraded to stronger units to close out the game. 2) You simply fail to perform basic strategy maneuvers such as scouting, maintaining unit production, and expanding at a careful rate. Overextending either by expansions or fighting a losing battle will put you in a vulnerable position, while failing to keep vision of the map & the enemy will leave you powerless. Both of these common pitfalls are no fault of balance; rather, mistakes were made and you were either outplayed by your opponent or failed to properly hold your advantage – in both cases, the blame lies on the player.

You cant balance the game around 3v3, or else everything will have to be really weak.

I understand your frustration, but thats 3s for you.

Outside of 3v3s having its own balance settings, not much devs can do.

1v1 balance is the focus. 2v2 is fine.

OP, I am not locking this because you have an opinion contrary to common sentiment. I am locking this because an “air is OP” megathread will be created, dedicated to discussion of air-anything else interactions.

Further, if you believe air is OP, please post evidence for us. Thanks.
