Aiming

Yes, there’s a weird velocity jump happening at around 65% deflection of your right stick. It makes aiming unnatural because after you hit that velocity jump you are hitting 100% of the turning speed of the game.

It’s a first for any Halo game to have this kind of mechanic and I honestly think it’s a bad choice from 343i to implement this after the beta.

Your finding it hard to aim because there literately no aim assist, unlike most games. Try working on your aim in custom games etc.

The BR feels off, but I think it is supposed to be that way. But the aiming really is odd, I’ll get a guy down to no shields with the Pocket DMR and shoot him dead center in the face… or so my screen shows, but the bullets go right by his face even though the reticle is between his eyes.

I’m pretty sure that’s not the issue.

It’s not a aim assist issue, it’s a look mechanic issue (Deadzone settings built into the game)

It is noticable that the velocity and acceleration´s a bit off, but for some reason I like it. I can not say that I had not needed to learn to use it, but it really seems to throw my opponents off, so I will not wine about it. xD

Yeah, okay then can I have a mouse and key board because -Yoink- no aim with a controller.

I think the aiming is fine. However I feel like the br in particular feels too responsive when zoomed in compared to the pistol

I dont believe its that bad, but when you get knocked out of ADS when youve been shot can be a pain but im used to it now

Aiming is fine.
Virtually no aim assist is really kicking people in the gonads isint it
Also the speed up and dead zones… i wonder if you will be able to tune that with the elite controller?

It does feel a bit weird but I don’t think it is what you guys are saying, I seem to have absolutely no look acceleration it just feels floaty if thats even a description

I get that with most new games, the weird feeling when controlling the character. Only an issue really if it still feels weird after a week.

I agree aim is strange. Its like a sweeping motion but you cannot get small incriments its move or mooooooooove well past target and moves too slow then too fast. VEry difficult to adapt to as controllers have low response times compaired to mouse.

Consoles NEED some sort of Aim Assist to even out the dead zones they cannot simulate mouse movements

The problem i’m experiencing with aiming and turning in general is sometime i just turn extremely slow for some reason, there is no consistency to it it just happens at random times.

In PvP I had to crank the sensitivity up to
6 and it still feels a little sluggish.

I really don’t understand why people are saying there is no aim-assist. This game has very noticeable aim-assist, as well as giant acceleration zones that make this game have almost as much aim-assist and assistance as Halo 2 did (which had the most assistance of any Halo game to date).

Very strange, I do find it inconsistent.
There IS aim assist, just not always noticeable. One moment it’s there, the next it isn’t. It should either be one or the other. You get use to it working and suddenly your aim is thrown off entirely because it doesn’t kick in. Leading to shots that should be landing but aren’t, it’s literally my only gripe with this game.

I also find the sensitivities are laughable. there’s literally not much difference between them, a big difference between 1 and 10, but not 1 and 5.

Yeah I’ve noticed this too. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re trying to finish the kill but the reticle isn’t following your movements. Never had this problem in any other halo. Also the radar has wayyyyy to short of a range

The aiming is fine. I hate aim assist. And it’s still in the game. They need to just get rid of it all together. It tightens the skill gap between good players and bad players. And it needs to be looser. Games LIKE Destiny where everyone is mlg cuz the games aim assist practically plays for you is a complete joke. The acceleration does need to be fixed tho. I don’t understand why in 2015 were not to the point where the look mechanics aren’t 1:1. I can understand having to implement features in older gens. But I think we’ve past that point where you can successfully implement a solid look mechanic for the sticks that doesn’t revolve around aim assist or look acceleration. I know plenty of people who don’t need it. So it’s not necessary like some of you are claiming.

I’ve got mixed feelings with the aiming. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is that I’m struggling with.

However, I still do well with the sniper - if I get it. But in other ways, I’m missing shots I would have successfully pulled off in previous games. I don’t think it’s down to the lower aim assist, I can cope with that. But it’s a speed thing. I always play console FPS on a high sensitivity. I’ve raised mine to 10 and it still feels too slow. I also have problems turning 180 degrees quick enough to react to dangers behind me, which is the most worrying issue I experience.

Given the speed of combat, the speed of the Spartans you face against, I feel at a disadvantage at times just because I seem sluggish in turning speed. It’s like others have referenced here, it doesn’t always seem to happen. Sometimes it feels more fluid and other times, it’s off-putting.

For me, I enjoyed the way the game was setup in the beta. Now, I’m struggling to enjoy it as much. I’m not a giver-upper so I’ll plug on with and at some point when I eventually adapt, I’m sure I’ll be saying I love it. At least I hope so
