Aiming Question

Okay, so I was playing the beTA maybe a few days ago, before the week three Playlist started, and I was doing very well, probably getting the Top gun medal every game, and getting perfect kills pretty often as well. Now this week I can’t seem to be hitting my mark for some reason, the movement away from the head seems to be way to much due to lack of aim assist, but at the same time bullet magnetism isn’t helping me either, because in this one scenario I stripped a guys shield, and the next shot I had was a red redical directly on his head, but maybe slightly left as I was leading left, and even with the redical red, my shots apparently missed by so little it is impossible he did not die. Now I was playing a match on Pegasus as the underpowered Blue team, and I got frustrated that my bullets seem to always miss, so I changed my sensitivity all the way down to 1 (it was on 2 before) and first thing that happens… perfect kill. Now I don’t want to play with my sensitivity on 1 because I can play halo 3 with the default setting perfectly fine. Is it just the time to kill that is the issue here and lack of aim assist, or might this have to do with a poor connection?

Barring an internet connection problem.

You could be trying to place shots(aim) with your right thumbstick.

You actually only need the right stick for minor adjustments. Place most of your shots by moving the left stick

Here’s my spin on it.

There’s a lot of aim assist in this game and it increases in magnitude the greater the lateral movement of either player. Watch your reticle agressively try to follow a player jumping across in front of you. The faster you move, the more aim assist you appear the have. Therefore, a lack of aim assist shouldn’t be your issue.

However, I’ve had times where my shots don’t register, or I feel like my movement is being impeded, which affects my aim. This game isn’t running on servers, it’s p2p and if you end up on a bad host or an out of region host it can be a pointless waste of time. This is more likely what is causing your issue in my opinion. Choose the time of day you play more carefully in order to make it less likely of running into out of region players.

The skills gap in this game isn’t determined by whether you can aim or not, it’s the tactical decisions you make that determine the level of skill more so in this game than any other Halo game I’ve played. Aiming is easy when the host is decent in this game, my sensitivity is on a 7 and I rarely miss.

I have had this same issue! Week three became incredibly hard, and it sometimes seems that bullets can just be shot casually in my direction and even if the reticule isn’t exactly on my head it is a headshot. I never seem to get that perk.

I’ve actually noticed that aiming for the head is completely wrong, because on kill cams and even when I will play against someone, if I aim much lower, say above the -Yoink!-, I will get the kill as a headshot, because of the bullet magnetism. I really feel like they may have accidentally put Elite hitboxes on the Spartans haha.
