I want to preface this by saying, I have played all the Previous iterations of Halo, and for some reason the Aiming in infinite feels off.
Over the course of playing Infinite, as well as its flights, its become increasingly obvious to me that Infinite’s aim is stiff. That is not to say its bad, but For Me it feels like the crosshairs, are pulling my attention to them despite them being somewhat small. I say this as I play on 120-100 FOV.
I checked in the Weapon Drills, that indeed the Cross lines on the Reticle get smaller as the FOV gets larger, which in all honesty is disheartening, as in MCC I can play on 120 as use their weapons just fine.
This combined with the fact aiming feels somewhat stiff, makes it hard to use certain guns, (i.e. The BR). Hitting shots, especially headshots, feels harder that it usually should, and it makes me feel as if I am handicapped in a gunfight.
The two problems is just the FOV scaling of the crosshairs, and the stiffness of certain Guns. I don’t know if any one else experiences this, but if you do post, as I feel; like I’m going insane, subconsciously noticing this detail and now I cant stop.

I’m a weirdo that has, since Halo 3, played on 2 Sensitivity. Even as far as 1.5 on MCC.
It took a few bot games before I finally felt like I had achieved something that felt “good”, and I’m someone that typically doesn’t like to mess around with settings too much. It absolutely felt… unfamiliar, or stiff. Specifically, bumping acceleration to 3 and tweaking dead zones to… I think 10/12/10? I might be wrong.
Bottom line, yeah, it feels a bit off at first so you may have to test around. I’d say either the bot playlist or load a custom FFA with bots so you can tweak it bit by bit without stress.
In H3, I had someone recommend start on obnoxiously fast, twitchy settings. 10 sens. Start working down until you find the sweet spot. I can’t speak to FoV and how that’ll impact it.
Console player here. Use a Razer wolverine and have edited my deadzones as best to my liking. Aiming in the flight felt absolutely terrible for me. This beta it feels better. But it doesn’t feel smooth as well. The more I play the beta the more I think it’s a combination of different two factors.
- Inconsistent aim assist. Sometimes it feels like it just turns off mid gun battle. But then other times it feels insanely strong. I’ve had aim assist pull me off target to a guy sprinting across a gun battle.
- Strafe inertia. Infinite seems to have little to no strafe inertia. Meaning that strafing left to right is instantaneous. All previous Halo titles had strafe inertia. And if my timing is right Halo 4 had the least. This makes getting that last headshot difficult since player movement is very jerky. Years of muscle memory kick in, then you find yourself overcompensating and shooting to the left or right of their head.
For me personally I think the strafe is the bigger problem. If they were to add 1/4, hell maybe even 1/8 delay to strafing I think it would feel a lot better.
