Aiming feels janky and snappy

To put it simply, anytime I have to use the right stick, I cannot for the life of me make a smooth motion with the cursor. Does not matter the sens/fov/deadzones combination. The aiming just feels heavy, janky, and anything but smooth. It is really the only problem I have with the game thus far. I’m loving everything else and I’ll most likely like it even more once I can play it on PC. Feel like the cursor is there then pops over there when I touch the right stick (slight over exaggeration but still very similar to what I am experiencing).

I think most of what people are experiencing right now when it comes to smooth interactions and whatnot are due to the early stage of public testing and bugs. Since the first day and some updates which have rolled out, I feel like my game play has since become more bearable as I was having horrible clunky movement and such.

Aim Assist on console has been completely toned down
Like signifcantly reduced
that may be why it feels off to you

i turned off my deadzones completely and it made it perfect for me after adjusting my sense. You also should not really be aiming with your right stick except for small adjustments.

We also have to note that infinite has a small amount of aim assist, at least when compared to other shooters and past halos. That in itself its gonna feel very different for players who are used to a decent amount of aim assist (whether they realize it or not)

I’m also having aiming issues. I’m on M/Kb and it constantly feels like the game is changing the sensitivity to be either way to fast or way to slow. It is extremely frustrating and is my only major issue with the preview. No matter what tweaking I do it still feels bad and feels very slippery. I really hope this gets fixed

It took me a while to get sensitivity right. I think for Halo launching on PC some major ground work had to be re-done which is throwing some of us with strong muscle memory off.

My Flick style is NOT working at long-range at all. The flick goes TWICE as far as I am used to. So weapons that don’t turn red at a long distance are basically like trying to shoot on ice. I spent about an hour in the Academy tuning my Sensitivity for both M&KB and Controller until I could consistently get high scores on the AI.

Now I’m performing well with Both Mouse and Controller. My only gripe is that I still cannot seem to affect the distance a Flick takes my cursor.

I’m aware of the aim assist being low. It could be the aim assist as well honestly. For instance there seems to be no slow down when looking near the player then becomes heavy once on the player. Then once the aim assist disengages it just adds on to the clunkiness (after the heavy feeling). Been playing halo and a ton of other FPSs and this is one of the few titles where I just felt I didn’t have complete control.

That’s the point. If I try to make small adjustments with the right stick it becomes super clanky and unpredictable. I’m aware of the aim assist as well. And for small aim assist, it seemed pretty heavy for me imo, at least when the cursor is exactly on the user. Then just pushes off (not slides or smoothly goes away) when disengaging.

I hear you. It feels like sometimes it works, then suddenly im like holy I cant control this thing LOL.

Second flight and I still have this issue :frowning: mouse aim feels super clunky but everything else feels great

Even with aiming at a wall it feels clunky and uneven. I think it’s something with this new engine.

This. I feel like sometimes I can’t miss and other times my controller sticks don’t even work properly anymore. It’s really frustrating. MCC is SO smooth and refined and the aiming in this is everything but. Just feels like something is off.

I remember when MCC first came out it felt like it had the same issue, and now that runs so smooth. Hoping they figure it out pre launch.
