All UNSC soldiers have either a HUD on their visor or a HUD overlayed through their neural interface (a chip in their brain). You shouldn’t need to position your head to aim through the sight. I mean, it’s even showcased on the AR and Magnum in the gameplay reveal that they don’t require a visible reflex sight to aim through. Why can your Spartan just activate a zoom function for the AR, but with the BR, he has to position his head and look through the sights? It makes no sense.
P.S. 343, please get rid of the reflex sight from the BR and replace it with its Halo 4 scope or something akin to an EOTech sight. Reflex sights look ugly as hell on the BR.

For stability. Accuracy. also did he have a helmet?
Still doesn’t make sense for spartans to have to “stabilize” their gun for accuracy as people keep saying, because spartans are strong enough to handle any recoil at any position. Also having to have the gun in your visor sight is worse than what it was lore wise because its limiting the spartans capabilities. EX
In one of the books linda sniped elites out of banshees while upside down with one hand, they don’t need the sights for accuracy.

some marines with advanced helmets might have it, not sure.
I’m not too sure that the neural interface Marines have are connected to this.
Unless the Marine has a Full-Face Visor (which many do not), there will be nowhere for a HUD to show itself.
AFAIK, Neural implants are given to Marines for UNSC identification and Status Tracking, a HUD is built into the visor itself, and connects the the user’s weapons, via Smart link scopes and lasers and the such. An Implant may indeed increase flexibility in the usage of this HUD, but the implant, i think, is not solely responsible for the HUD. Ammo counters are target circles don’t just float on peoples’ eyeballs, you know.
For a Spartan in the sense of established lore, however, my guess is simply preference for the Spartan themselves. A Spartan may prefer to use scopes like Marines do, which may give the Spartan a more familiar control of the weapon, while many others go with Instinctive firing (hipfire) or usage of the smartlink Scope built into the visor. In H5s case, if you don’t want to Aim the gun down, don’t.
Additionally, I’ve always thought it weird that Spartans can, on personal will, pull a scope out of nowhere, even if they’re not physically using the scope in-combat. Unless UNSC technology is that far into the future that simply THINKING about scoping in allows you to do so, it can’t be that simple; if it were, every marine would have this luxury, and adding scopes on ANY weapon would prove obsolete and pointless. which is clearly not the case, from what I’ve heard, scopes are used quite commonly by Marines in the novels and expanded lore. The fact that Spartans in H5 now have to physically aim the gun down to see the whole scope seems to follow logic more for me. And as stated, it functions pretty much identically to that of scopes from the past, so i see little harm.
I do agree though, that the new scopes make the BR (and SMG) a little Ugly.

Don’t you think that if the visor’s ever got damaged they would have to go old school on the guns.
It’s comestic and an aesthetic point of view. I don’t understand why you’d be so rustled about it. Doesnt break gameplay…
The smart scope concept gives you an “ADS” PoV on the BR. And by the looks of it, you have a better field of vision compared to previous Halo games.
Canon-wise… it doesn’t matter
You should watch the gameplay videos more to see you actually zoom in a bit

halo reach ending, still worked pretty well, but he was a spartan and im guessing marine visors are a lot cheaper.

canon is a very important aspect of halo as well. You can’t just go around breaking history.

Story should never be sacrificed in the name of gameplay and vice versa. Plenty of things happen in the canon that don’t happen in the games and nobody bats an eye. Yu used the example of Linda firing one-handed upside down. That was never possible in the games, yet there is no problem. As far as I’m concerned, even with my love of the canon, I want a game that handles fine. Nothing from the canon is being violated that much. From as I can tell, non-zoom weapons like the AR don’t even give you a traditional ADS view. Hardly breaking history.

That’s just a situation, if we could i’m sure players would hang upside down next to a hanging ledge and fire at people lol.
Yeah, you have a point. I think if everything looked the same all the time we would be complaining too. 343 really can’t catch a break. Keep in mind its a beta and if the community begs 343 enough and they think its an issue they will change it.
some people like ads and some don’t. So I would love an option to choose which I would prefer to use. Dmr looked like it left alot of blind spots while ads but I guess I need to try it before I get too pissed.
Gonna copy n paste what somebody said here and add some things of my own.
I kinda agree with him though.
“Oh and there was an argument saying ADS was purely a cosmetic change. That is completely -Yoink-. if you watch gameplay of people using the Assault Rifle, you can clearly see that the reticule has bloom when fired from the hip and no bloom when using ADS, which shouldn’t be happening if it doesn’t improve accuracy.
When 343 said that ADS has always been in Halo, that was a lie too. It’s just a polite way of them saying we’ve changed it to ADS without completely -Yoink!- off the community. They changed it to ADS so that any moron who enjoy’s FPS’s but has never play Halo can adapt to it using their CoD skills.”
