I play Halo Infinite on PC (with controller) and also Xbox One X, I’ve noticed that in some games aim assist just turns off, this doesn’t happen on PC, just my xbox. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I’ve played around with my settings and even re-installed the game but it’s still the same. Some games it works fine, some it’s just turned off which makes the game unplayable.

I don’t know if it completely turns off, but compared to other FPS games I’ve played the aim assist feels really low (also in Xbox btw).
It’s a weird situation this game is in. Controller users feel there is barely any aim assist and M&K players who feel there is too much aim assist for Controller users. I hope there will soon be features to turn off crossplay or that there will be controller only and M&K only lobbies.

Aim Assist disables permanently until the game is closed and reopened, if you use a keyboard/mouse, iirc. Are you using a keyboard to type in chat? That might do it. People said that it disables when they use their keyboard for a push to talk button. It should work if you use a controller chatpad keyboard. I can understand the frustration, but that’s what they did to prevent kbm from glitching to have Aim Assist.
From my experience pc just gets a better AA.
On pc its slightly follows the target while on console my AA doesnt even do that. I dunno if it’s a bug, system settings or a server issue but it’s been that way since beta release for me.
Kinda sucks because my PC isnt good for gaming at all and I dont tend to do or buy anything on it hence why I game on console. Luckily I can aim decent while on console, will never be at the level of a mouse though lol

It’s fine on PC, it’s actually on Xbox where I get this issue

Reply to stitch,
It’s not that it’s stronger on PC, it’s just that in some games it COMPLETELY deactivates on xbox

Xbox Series X Controller player myself. I’ve 100% noticed huge inconsistencies in AA. I’m thinking it’s mostly related to connection. Some were actual bugs that may/may not be patched.
Some games even within the game itself, I’ll go from normal AA to none at all or any strength in between.

What console are you on? Because it’s not that it works some games it’s just completely different and never actually works the same when comparing the two personally.
(For example my crosshair wont move in the slightest om console)

Oh yeah. Aim assist is half broken for me all the time. I especially noticed it during shield pop, and especially with the commando and side kick.

At this point, I feel like it was a deliberate design choice. Because aim assist indeed turns off after the shield pops on the enemy. That is why it feels so inconsistent and weird.

This is exactly my case on Xbox One X
I play on Xbox One X, I think it must be a bug as a lot of other people have experienced it as well.
I have heard from Snakebite (Halo pro) that if you jump it can disable your aim assist, so bunny hopping everywhere may not necessarily be the best choice.

I have heard some people say JUMPING and SHIELD POP reduces aim assist, that’s why when you jump at the shot it just catapults away sometimes
This actually might be a thing, not sure where but someone mentioned that apparently it was in the game files, JUMPING and SHIELD POP reduces aim assist… not 100% confirmed but from personal experience it definitely feels that way
I’ve definitely experienced this, and had multiple friends mention this ‘phenomenon’ before I read about it.
IF it is intentional, I feel like that is a poor decision with forced input crossplay. If it was just controller vs controller, I would just adapt. I’ll still deal with it, but it just seems like an odd feature…
Strange, I was honestly expecting series X. I’m personally on the series S and I have yet to have my crosshair slightly follow even when trying in customs. I sure do hope this bug gets fixed then, but honestly I’d rather no crossplay first. This latency is killing my fun

i think its tied to the no collision thing somethings its like it cuts out for like 3 seconds if your in a gun fight and the other guy all of a sudden aims his gun in a cycle thats because his aim assist just broke, its not just the aim assist your aim acceleration kicks in too its like your not even aiming at them.

It does and it is intentional, SnakebiteFPS did a video on it a few weeks ago it also soft turns off when you jump

I watched his video and didn’t see any evidence that this is true - only speculation (on his part). His video doesn’t confirm anything, and it’s hard to tell why he stops tracking when he jumps (not moving joystick enough to stay within aim assist zone etc.).
Having said that, there is something funky about aim assist. I don’t know what’s causing it, or why it happens, but there is most definitely something weird with it.
