Aim assist too OP, can we have the option to disable matchmaking with those on controller?

It looks like your right.

Happy to admit defeat there. Thanks for the effort you went too to do that.

Wasn’t really all that much effort. Took like 5 minutes to load up the game, test, and upload.

I just hope, with this knowledge, M&K players will realize they just have bad aim. Not saying you’re bad, but a mouse definitely has superior tracking to a controller. That’s why aim assist exists.

as far as i have heard and seen it only works if you have a controller plugged in on PC the second you touch the mouse it disables it.

Nah , i play on PC and that is just bs rumors. I scroll through the menus with my mouse often and then play with my controller. It doesnt disable aim assist

Doesn’t always happen. I’ve touched a mouse and had it be fine. Likewise, I have also NOT touched my mouse and had it happen the very first game I played.

Well i dunno about that but i defintly saw my crosshair following somone on pc when i had my controller plugged in.

That’s odd. There’s definitely some wonky nonsense happening.

I’ve also read players on console getting their AA disabled too. While you can plug up a mouse to an Xbox, it’s extremely unlikely that’s what’s causing the issue.

It’s just what i’ve heard.

It’s just easier to assume the game is poorly programmed. Challenges not working, BTB broken, random crashes, backsmacks from the front, less than stellar netcode, and probably a myriad of other smaller problems.

It’s like they wrote the how-to manual on making a great game but slipping at the finish line.

Aim assist is abnormally strong on the PC version of the game. Xbox version is clean though.

Now, I’d rather not run in circles with the ā€œwho has the advantageā€ crap. It’s tiring and stupid. Crossplay simply needs to be turned off by default.

you get backsmacked from the front because there’s little to no player collision.

Aim Assist in halo infinite is very low. Its low compared to other halo games and its very very low compared to other fps. Most FPS that MNK dominate controller users have far stronger Aim Assist than Halo infifnite.

Aim assist is not the issue in halo. Controller performs well on controller because of how halo plays and how its designed.

Typical MNK advantages in Higher sensitivity while maintaining accuracy with full arm controlle, faster strafe with A & D presses for better peek shooting, Better recoil control, and faster movement all work better in faster paced low ttk twitch/relfex based fps games.

Halo doesnt make use of those benefits nearly as much. Halo has a long TTK, Slower movement, Slower strafe, and 0 recoil. So even with a very weak aim assist halo is designed to play well on controller and doesnt punish controllers usual weaknesses like most modern fps do.

Aim Assist also does not track target for you which ā€œtrackingā€ is what alot of people that claim AA is Op mention. Aim Assist will add a lil tug towards a target when they first walk across your crosshair, but thats more annoying than anything. like pushing a persons gun befor you try to fire. That ā€œtrackingā€ will last longer if u stand still and dont move. BUT if u stand still you die, and it cant keep up with a target even if u tried it, it also fully drops of if you move your sticks… The Aim ASSists real benefits are MAGNETISM basically makes hit boxes bigger (not AA exclusive, mnk get it in games too) and an automatic sensitivity drop while on target. Allowing controllers to play at slightly higher sensitivity for movement but also have accuracy while aiming. Like if u play at 6, it feels like it drops to 4 while on a target. MNK do not need that as they have good accuracy all the time.

The slower steady strafe of analog sticks is good for halo gun battles, also aiming with the strafe (left stick) and only making adjustments with aim (right stick) helps accuracy. If u lowered your MNK to the equivelent sensitivity most controllers play at, your tracking would be just as good with BR and ARs as controller, because the slower steady consistancy is why they are good. But u would lose out on the faster movement that works better for single shot guns like magnum and snipe, or even better melee tracking.

They both have pros and cons, but it is wrong to say its because its OP AA. Its simply that halo is designed around controller to not highlight their weeknesses and also doesnt utilize mnk strengths as much as youre used too in modern games.

M&K has anti-aim assist on no scope sniper, pushing the reticle away from the outline. I’d like 343 to address this.

i play on pc with controller and the aim assist at times feels non existent while other time it feels strong. its weird but most the time i dont even think its working.

tried it on console and it was insane

I read it goes away until you restart the game if you move a mouse or touch the keyboard, since it locks in M&K mode to prevent glitching aim assist on a mouse. People seem to be annoyed by it happening when they just want to type in chat

yeah that could be the case but sometimes you can get it to register on the screen until you click the screen at the menu only for it to register the mouse. Why not just give the option to set it to a certain input in the the settings to avoid that bs?

I play Halo on both PC and console. There is barely any on console, and way too much on PC. They need to have it be equal on both platform, PC already has the advantage when put against those with good aim ,with M&K, now there’s advantage on controller too? Pretty stupid

Well for one, MCC did that, and it sucks. It prevents people from using anything other than default controller and default M&K. If they wanted to have a 3rd option for Open controls, that would be fine. People that use joystick keyboards or analog keyboards have that locked away on MCC, so they’re forced to 8 directional digital movement. People use analog keyboards to be able to walk and run based on how hard they press it, and joystick keyboards to have that left thumbstick movement with a mouse. Some people use Steam controllers. I use a Hori Tactical style controller, half a controller in the left hand, gaming mouse in the right hand. I hate WASD and I hate right thumbstick aiming.

i dont understand how their is none on console. its the complete opposite for me on my pc.

This isn’t necessarily true. I type all the time and keep my AA. Likewise, sometimes I don’t touch my M&K at all and my very first game loses AA.

This issue also happens on Xbox, where players are 95% likely to NOT be using a mouse. It’s gotta be a bug in the code somewhere.
