Aim Assist, TONE IT DOWN

I really don’t mind hitscan weapons. I do mind hitscan when the Aim Assist is so ridiculously high. (reach) Game types like SWAT are near meaningless with this combination. Plus the game is way too easy when it’s hitscan. Since we’re going hitscan, they need to drop the aim assist down to AT LEAST halo 3 levels. IMO, they should drop it even lower. One of the main things halo has going for itself is the “US vs THEM” feeling. When it feels too much like the game is targeting for you, head shots feel half BS and more arcadey (COD).

misleading thread title.

its bullet magnetism that kills the experience for me.
i never actually find myself using aim assist.

Aim assist and the ridiculous bullet magnetism need to be toned down. It destroys the skill gap.

the aim assist was actually lower in reach however slow movement speeds, and outright poor movement mechanics made it easy to land head shots.

> the aim assist was actually lower in reach however slow movement speeds, and outright poor movement mechanics made it easy to land head shots.

Because of the hitcan, it felt waaay stronger than halo 3’s. I think it should almost be completely non existant since they’re going hitscan.

aim assist isn’t the issue. CE has the most aim assist out of all the Halos. It’s the bullet magnetism that’s the issue. There way to much in both games that featured hitscan weapons (H2 and HR). Tone the bullet mag down. Aim assist is a non-issue, but slightly less would not be bad.

Bullet magnetism is the issue, like everyone is saying.

actually the only time there should not be any aim assist is when a weapon shoots actual projectiles. because at that point the aim assist will actually force you to miss moving targets. honestly IMO not a single weapon in any halo game should have any more aim assist than the HCE pistol.

Learn the difference between aim assist and bullet magnetism.

am i the only person that liked halo 3s system better?
maybe its because i hardly ever have lag problems.

That video is demonstrating Bullet Magnetism, the process in which bullets stray from their path of fire as if magnetically seeking an opponent. Aim assist is the candace on the reticule that snaps it to an opponent.

There is a video demonstrating that CE has more than Halo 2 and Halo 3. It measures the angle in which a player’s strafe is altered due to the aim assist. Halo CE changes the most. I’m just to lazy to look for it right now.

They need to make the head hit-boxes smaller. Reach’s is GIGANTIC!

Lol, that’s exactly it. It was ok on LAN. If they don’t have the stupid amount of bullet spread and they improve the netcode, it wouldn’t be bad, but I still think hitscan is necessary for an online environment.

actually aim assist in halo is the combination between auto aim which is what nudges you reticul and bullet magnetism. I highly doubt halo CE had more auto aim than other halos. although i could see why people could make that assumption with halo CEs FoV which was 90 degrees as opposed to the 60 degree FoV in all other halo titles.

I’d like more aim assist and magnetism. To me it seemed like Halo 2 had the most assisting out of any other Halo. It was also the funnest. In Halo 2 games ended 50-49 way more than in Reach or Halo 3. With a lower skill gap you have a better chance of having close intense games. Reach proves that with the current player pool matches are never close. Even when the teams are evenly matched. I personally think Reach has the biggest skill gap out of any of the previous games. When tons of help is their people tend to stay because they feel good. I don’t want people leaving the game because they feel bad. I’d rather have almost everyone feel slightly good and stay rather than play super easy CoD.

Halo IMO will always have more skill than CoD because you have to aim for the head and shoot for more than .5 seconds. So don’t tell me that by making the game easier is like turning it into CoD(not saying you will say or think this but some will…). Unless you’re talking about Swat… Which also takes more skill than CoD.

i dont want closer games, if im better than someone, i want to hands down beat them. We shouldnt give bad players some advantage or luck factor.

lmfao Halo reach has the least amount of aim assist than ANY halo game ! It just seems like more because halo 3 had that god awful “no hitscan bullet travel” crap that made it so annoying to fire weapons.

Besides aim assist is there because joystic based fps is nearly impossible without it. Majority of halo’s population is casual and doesnt like to spend 3092093 hours mastering one shooter because its aim assist is too low.

So if u take the aim assist too low then its going to chase away the casuals and without the casuals halo 4 will fail population wise.

If you’re better than a player your team should still win. The only thing that more “helpers” should do is keep the game close. You won’t win as many battles but overall you will still be a better player than players that aren’t as skilled and their are still pros that you will get dominated by and bad kids that will still be bad… Why would you want people to feel terrible and leave? It’s the reason games like doom died off. They were cool at first but the skill gap was huge and people eventually stopped playing because they were either blowing teams out or getting destroyed. Their is nothing fun about that at all.

I’m not a fan of CoD but why do you think trillions of people play it? Because it’s easy enough for tons of people to feel decent and at least do ok and feel good.

A game dev would have to be stupid to not want to make their game appealing to all crowds. If you want a game based on pure skill PC gaming is calling your name.
