Aim assist pulling reticle

Has anybody else had the issue where you are focusing fire on emeny A, then enemy B runs across between you and A, and aim assist drags your reticle away from A and towards B (I assume because it’s the closer enemy?). I’ve never noticed this issue on other halos, but there have been numerous times where this caused me to lose battles in infinite. Is the aim assist too strong? What’s going on here?

This scenario pretty much happens in all games with aim assist and isn’t exclusive to Halo Infinite (as an example, this also happens in Halo5 and COD).

Yes, and I’ve had it happen in other Halos too.

Yes, I believe the AA is latching on the closer target. The reticle pull component then sticks with this second target.

Whether it is too strong is a matter of opinion. I would say if fighting against the AA under those circumstances is absurdly difficult then, yes, it’s too strong. This arguably describes certain weapons in the game.

On a related note, I find the behavior is beneficial to exploit. Deliberately using it against opponents to protect/save your teammates. Unless they’re trashing the team in chat or over their mic while blindly hero rushing the other team. You have permission to setup your lawn chair and watch those teammates drown in a sea of pew pew.
