WOAH WOAH WOAH, that aim assist was 100% nonexistent on console. I swear to god there was absolutely NO aim assist on xbox one. Maybe this is why some folks (like me) are worried about how little aim assist there is and how mkb will dominate tournaments, while others (like you) think the complete opposite? Man, if it was all a bug and infinite’s aim assist is actually supposed to be like that clip, then damn yeah it needs a little nerf. Cheers.

Yes, if you never had a problem with aiming with a controller in any other Halo game and don’t understand that this is an alpha, invitational build of a Halo game yes for sure. Just takes practice, lack of aim assist could be the games not complete, or maybe the games purposefully doing that to accommodate for I don’t know a skill gap?
Also if this has never been a problem for you, aiming that is. Why are you not a pro? 50 or champion? Or maybe you’re casually on the come up. If you do get signed don’t forget about us.

Someone gets it!
Simply put, I do agree. 343 doesn’t need a pro team, hire me instead on your casual team.
As a PC player this is my perspective:
-MCC before crossplay was v fair and fun, console players came in with aim assist and it was way too strong. I plug my controller in on MCC and hardly even have to aim.
- A controller is 100% of the time always going to be worse than a mouse for aiming (based on players of equal skill level)
- A lot of people argue that if console players get aim assist then why don’t we PC players?
My main hangup is this, I paid extra for my superior experience, yes I only run games at 1440p at 144hz. But my mouse and keyboard cost at least tripple the amount of a controller for xbox.
From my perspective, if you have aim assist, so do we. It’s the only fair way. You can’t give a massive advantage to one set of players then just leave the rest out because they have better equipment.
All the people complaining about the game not aiming for them enough I guarantee have not adjusted their stick settings properly.

> All the people complaining about the game not aiming for them enough I guarantee have not adjusted their stick settings properly.
my god, why didn’t we think of that. The settings! Thank you! Problem solved, we were so busy that we didn’t event try every possible setting.
nevermind the fact in Halo CE, 2, 3, ODST, Reach and 4 I never had to even touch the settings to have a decent experience, but only to improve an already very good one.
but hey, if you guarantee that, we should stop complain.

You paid extra for a superior EXPERIENCE. Its a fundamental of gaming that it doesn’t therefore owe you an advantage. Or are you endorsing pay to win?
“I paid for the automatic scarab gun so blah blah blah”
On another note; “You can’t give a massive advantage to one set of players” That’s exactly what your equipment already gives you. Aim Assist is not an advantage, its intended to level the playing field.
Edit: All this reads as, ( as you admit yourself that aiming will always be easier on KB&M) that you don’t want a fair playing field.

Both. I only had the Xbox one x for this flight. It was hard the first day. I kept tweaking my sensitivity sliders and practiced and averaged 20 kills a game.

Yes, same (well I averaged about 15) but that number is completely irrelevant to crossplay. Remember you’re playing against bots together with other xbox players who all have the same thing.
It’s different playing against mouse which is objectively a lot easier to use.
Ofc we can practise and get better, but so can PC players, and they unfortunately have easier conditions already.

If you know it’s only a test build then why are you the one defending it? Everybody is fully aware it’s an alpha or a flight. We’re here to give feedback, and that feedback is that aiming is awful. It’s not a matter of practice because I’ve had years of practice playing shooters, within one hour of playing the flight I knew it was bad and no changing the settings could fix it. I still miss shots in games I’m good at and lose matches but not once do I feel like it’s because the game has poor aiming controls, so your presumptuous snark is unneccessary.

I averaged 20-25 kills per game when I wasn’t half-way sunk into my sofa.
I still think the aiming needs tweaking. Its a flight, it’s not perfect. But its pretty amazing.
I could get a few kills per match easy, even managing a perfection one time, but that was only when playing against bots who weren’t the brightest. But aiming always still felt cumbersome and frustrating, it was not fluid and instinctive like previous Halo games.

Keep in mind he’s using a mouse and keyboard against stationary targets in that clip.

> >
> > With the game coming to PC and MnK, alike, I think it’s important to make a good first impression to retain as many of the PC players as Halo can. Because, let’s be honest, Halo doesn’t necessarily have a healthy population right now. Halo needs to dip into the Overwatch, CSGO, Rainbow 6 siege player pools. Not to mention that viewership on Twitch will be an all time high and once a streamer says, “Controller is overtuned, I’m done with this game”, how many of those viewers will take that as gospel and jump ship as well?
> >
> > I’m tired of people saying that Halo needs to stay this or stay that. Why? So it can stay mediocre? 343 needs to make bold moves and if that means having low aim assist, I’m all for it.

> Ah yes. Ignore and alienate the controller playerbase because a streamer says it seems too good against KB + M. What if the streamer is just raging? Is Infinite beholden to the streamers now? Will it fail because it lacks a BR too? Having the game be janky for half the playerbase isn’t smart.
I mean, like it or not, the success of a lot of games now-a-days hinges on the viewpoint of streamers (aka “influencers”). I certainly don’t agree with it, but it is a very large platform with many adolescents who would rather take the opinion of their favorite streamer than form their own.
Imagine if it did launch with an enjoyable Battle Royale. Unfortunately, it is the hot game mode right now and it would probably launch Halo to the moon.
Either way someone is going to be unhappy with how their input method stacks up.

Cross play is an entirely different subject though. mouse and keyboard should never play against controller anyways

The issue with that idea is that you will hurt the game faster that way. -Yoink!- off a few entitled streamers because they had a bad game is one thing. -Yoink!- off an entire section of the player base that uses one input method over another is different. Frankly, another flight should be conducted purely to test KB + M against Controller. I kinda understand in super high level situations, but for the most part, I’m pretty sure a slightly weaker MCC aim assist would work fine.

Whether you think they should play each other or not doesn’t remove the fact that they will play each other. Which makes the subject of cross-play very relevant to aim assist balancing.
OP even mentioned gamepad as “inferior tool” which I’d argue makes it rather clear that this thread was intended to be related somewhat to crossplay. So no, I wouldn’t say it’s an entirely different subject at all

I love this take that “mouse is easier to use” yet we still see a lot of controller players on PC that refuse to switch. Why? Because controller players that have spent thousands of hours playing with controller don’t want to put the effort into M&K because they’re comfortable with the level of AA that has been holding their hands for so long.

> OP, aim assist doesn’t even exist in Infinite. It needs to exist to even get a buff, but I’m in total agreement that it should exist.
For Controller users absolutely. I will also be disabling cross play when the game comes out regardless. The PC multiplayer in any game is like the wild west it’s full of cheaters. Halo won’t be any different.
