For a few days I felt that something was wrong with my aim, sometimes it got slower and more inconsistent, now I realize that the aim assist makes your aim worse because it is based on what the server says and not on what you console says.
Take
because i cannot put links, I invite you to see the last clip I made in dvr
Look at the movement that makes the crosshair at nothing, in addition to that at times the crosshairs indicate the enemy, it should be noted that I am not moving anything
Whoa. Thats crazy. It was tracking the enemy you were looking at but it was targeting to your left before it snapped to them when the server and game caught up with each other?
I’ve ran several test. You also lose aim assist once your shields are broken. Doesn’t return until shields are 100%. If you play on steam then steam controller support will sometimes kick in but it’s completely inconsistent and random.
It WHAT!? So there’s no recovering from a fight once your sheilds are broken? That goes against a core tenant of Halo’s combat, being able to turn the tide when that happens.
Thank the lord on high. I was totally baffled by not being able to hit my shots when my shields were popped in hectic combat. I thought it was just me being frantic and twitchy.
Where is this confirmed please? If true then it would explain a few issues I’ve been experiencing.
As an example, I’ll be in a gunfight and knock off their shields but unable to land the final shot. I know it’s not me choking time and time again so this theory would make sense.
Another situation I’ve experienced many times is taking off a players shields but they literally become invincible as they won’t die when shooting with reticle clearly over them. I don’t think this is the same issue but the inconsistency is very frustrating.
What you say also happens to me,and i on Xbox one, I have many proofs of it, I have the theory that it is a great desynchronization and whoever has the lowest ping, even if it is minimal, tends to win, so you will never take the shot since you are not aiming at the place where the server says there is the enemy. I have also noticed that this happens a lot in games that use azure, but now it is much more noticeable and easier to happen.
Yeah I’m playing on Xbox One X. I don’t want to jump to conclusions before the full release as it could be a variety of factors such at netcode or player connection issues…but something definitely isn’t right as you can feel it and see it. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t happen all the time but not being able to finish off another player when either yourself, the other player or both don’t have shields is very noticeable when it happens.
What kind of evidence do you have? I’d be interested in viewing to see if it’s the same issues I’m experiencing.
That is interesting. I thought I had noticed how much harder it is to aim when up-close, but it’s more likely that it’s just that if I’m up-close, it suggests the distance between me and an opponent is closing as the fight progresses, so it’s likely happening when I have no shields. If this is true I’ll be interested in the impact of a patch
Very interesting. If this is true, then that’s quite shameful. There’s a lot of things you can run server-side, but this definitely isn’t one of them. There’s definitely something wrong with aim assist in Infinite but I feel like 99% of players, myself included, can’t quite put their finger on what is causing the unnatural and difficult feel to controller aiming. Who know, this might be it.
I keep getting an error when trying to provide a link. Not sure if I’m missing forum permission to post links or if it’s just an issue with the mobile version.
Anyway go to google and search “Halo Infinite aim assist bug” and it’ll be an article by gamerant.
