With the help of a PC player, I have discovered that Aim Assist is stronger on PC+Controller than on Xbox+controller.
We have tested the aim assist the firing range. The PC player (with controller input) discovered that the Aim Assist makes the crosshair jump to the center of the target when narrowly missing the target ( when firing a weapon ) .
In other words, when you aim just outside the head and fire the weapon, the crosshair will “snap” to the center of the head automatically.
This type of aim assist is not present on the Xbox console with controller input.
The following video was provided by the Discord-user Noobfriedrice, featuring PC gameplay The two first kills are with controller, the last is with kbm. Look at the auto aim in the two first kills: https://imgur.com/a/ACDjdgC
This footage is from me playing on Xbox (also with controller). Notice that the crosshairs do not snap to the head. https://gameclips.io/AfterCrow/0c5db871-601c-4e18-8c28-66c44ffd1a29
Both PC and Xbox have bullet magnetism. Both also have sensitivity affecting AA. But only the PC version gives this snap-on aim-assist, which is a massive advantage on moving targets.
As an Xbox player, I now understand why PC people think aim-assist is overpowered. This type of aim assist should be removed on all consoles (including PC).
Edit: I’ve been given footage of PC players who don’t have this kind of aim assist even when they play with a controller (according to them), indicating that the AA is even more RNG-based than previously believed. This means there is a different amount of AA even between PC players.
The snap makes up for not having Red Reticle aim assist, that magnetizes headshots even if you’re off by a lot. I’ve seen people on Console using a BR and not even being remotely close to getting headshots, but they were getting perfects anyway.
This is easily the best thread on the aim issues we are experiencing with this game. People quickly point out Aim assist as being at fault but it just simply isn’t because the aim assist is so irregular and difficult.
The issue is the mechanics for inputs and devices. The differences coupled with poor default settings and acceleration curves.
its the same thing without taking into considering pc has the ability to change the scale resolution of the screen. ect. xbox does all that too. but its automatically. so if your saying anything I guess you could tweak it a lil more to your likening on a pc. but thats about it.
Thank you.
Also good point about the acceleration curves. I didn’t bring that up because that’s a topic deserving of its own discussion. The fact that the aim acceleration is non-negotiable is a huge turn-off for controller players and only adds to the difficulty of aiming (+reliance on aim assist).
These issues are far more important than overpriced colors in my humble opinion.
Thank you for this. I noticed this when watching many streamers with PC/Controllers setups . My instant reaction was “this aim assist is even more cracked than consoles” .
I just wanna say, I can’t test this since my laptop would never run Halo Infinite, but if some people with access to both PC & Xbox can reproduce this and then alert some Halo Youtubers to bring attention to this that’d be huge. If there is this big of a difference with the same input on PC vs console then the game is simply broken and crossplay shouldn’t be allowed until fixed.
And I wanna say, I have absolutely zero issue with crossplay even KBM vs controller, but if just by virtue of being on PC with a controller you have stronger aim assist than a console player has, that’s just straight up broken.
I guess this explains why PC players are convinced that aim assist is an OP aim bot, meanwhile those of us on console feel like it doesn’t even exist. Hopefully this thread blows up.
And yeah they really do need to fix the acceleration curve or whatever is causing aiming to feel so clunky in general as well.
I know right?!
Sadly I don’t think this thread will blow up because there is already so much anti-Xbox bias and a lot of people are just looking for proof “look I was right!!”. Also the major discussion right now is the expensive paint-jobs, and everything else takes a back seat.
The other thing is performance related aiming bugs that were confirmed last flight and never again addressed. I suspect it’s tied to the anti-cheat system.
Yes, we certainly need more Testing/proof from more players. This PC footage is from a PC-player who wanted to prove that AA is OP (as is the custom) so I wouldn’t be surprised if they lied/fabricated this.
It definitely needs some testing cause the aim feels very RNG at times and almost feels like I’m playing BF2042 with RNG bloom that targets good players.
As a PC controller player myself I’ve never experienced strong aim assist. Currently the aiming and aim assist just feels broken and inconsistent. That’s even with my FOV at 120 and FPS around 165-175 in game. I also own a XSX and have played on Xbox and have noticed no difference. Xbox feels broken and inconsistent as well.
OP though unlikely it is possible the person in the video you provided is using a modded controllers. They are the largest growing form of cheating since they work well on both PC and console. Modded controller don’t provide traditional aimbot but instead have extreme levels of aim assist. Again it’s unlikely and probably more of just them having a pristine internet connection.
