Aim assist is screwing me over

The aim assist in this game is unreal. When I try to aim at someone, if someone else runs in front of them it actually PULLS my crosshair to that person. I don’t want to aim at that person, I want to aim where I want to aim. It’s getting ridiculous. Was just playing a game of Fiesta, and everytime I had Rockets and someone would sprint at me around a corner, it was impossible to aim at the ground because the aim assist pulls the crosshair to them! Then I fire and miss them and the ground. Can the game stop trying to aim for me and just let me do it?

I don’t know what you are talking about because H5 has the least amount of aim assist of the series.

Dude it is really noticeable when I’m aiming at someone and my crosshair moves without me touching it. It’s not a little bit either, it tracks them. Whether or not this is true, doesn’t change the fact that my crosshair is moving significantly without my input.

No, I understand what he is saying. I’ve had this happen to me. If you are able to do this, get 2 friends and go into Customs and have them be the enemy team; get one of them to be stationary, move into the red reticle range of any weapon, and hover your cross-hair over one of them. Then have the other friend walk across the screen between you and the stationary friend. The cross-hair follows the moving friend. The way I will try to describe it, is that: Halo 5 might have the least amount of aim assist, but it seems to have some sort of glue or magnetism that makes the cross-hair follow a strafing target, to an extent.

Yea, maybe aim assist isn’t the correct term, but the game literally aims for me when I don’t press anything. Most of the time this screws me over, and it makes shooting at someone in a group almost impossible.

It has some of the lowest bullet magnetism of the series. The aim assist(reticle adhesion/slowdown) is pretty high.

Don’t use smart link / ADS unless they are at maximum range, adjust your controller’s dead zones in the H5G menu, and don’t try to go Rambo against a group and expect to survive.

I thought it was only me that had this issue!

That happens to me ALL the time!

Have this problem with the sniper… zoomed in a corridor and somone runs past it starts to follow and i miss the person i was aiming for… =(

Same here, but mostly with rifles

Happens plenty when shooting without scope too. In fact, that’s when it seems to be the worst. My dead zones are just perfect, I spent a long time adjusting them. The game is trying to aim for me. That is the problem.

Aim assist is based on distance/certain angle from the crosshair, so it is area-wise larger out of scope.

It only effects me when im trying to shoot the barrels next to someone from far away

Ummm…no it doesn’t?

Right but at long range, someone’s strafe will appear smaller than close range. So if you are close, they move across your screen faster. It’s a perspective/relativity thing, like when you see an airplane from the ground it doesn’t “look” like it’s going +500mph, but if it were to fly 100ft above your head it would.

I understand that, and that would have an effect on aim assist(longer range they can’t really strafe in/out of aim assist range all that fast), but my reply was just explaining why aim assist would feel stronger unzoomed because it’s covering a relatively wider angle(your perspective example would apply to this too) so more things could enter that box.

How many sheep can that one video feed?

Seriously, how can people ignore the amounts in every previous titles. It’s still high, but 5 certainly has generally lower amounts that most of the series.

I don’t know exactly what the issue or issues are but Halo 5 has the worst aiming and shooting of any Halo. It just doesn’t feel right.

The strength of both Sticky Reticule and Bullet Magnetism Aim Assists are directly effected by your connection. Good connections to the host (or Dedicated Server mostly) gives you stronger aim assist. Poorer connections to the Dedicated Server, such as us Europeans, have little to no aim assist, unless the Region lock actually works, and it gives us a lobby with other Europeans.
Anoctotally, people with poorer connections have larger hotboxes, and stronger aim assist against them.

Never said I was ignoring it in other titles
all of the halo titles have had high levels of aim assist
its a console with controllers aim assist has to be high

So I’m a sheep for referencing the video
But others are not sheep for believing every bit of drivel that comes from 343i’s mouth despite their long history of blatantly lying through their teeth?

You think its bad in this game? You should see what happens in these situations in past halos (apart from CE maybe)
