Aim assist is not balanced

I’ve been playing on mouse and keyboard for 10 years. I have worked a lot on my aim and i have to say despite that, i still am much better on controller than i am on mnk in halo infinite and i haven’t played with a controller for 9 years. Halo infinite is a game with fast strafing. Aiming with mouse and keyboard requires much more brain activity than using a controller. I really hope aim assist receives a significant nerf or else this amazing game will end up like MCC where none uses mouse and keyboard. The game needs to be hard for controller players too. It is not ok to be better on controller when i haven’t used it for like 10 years. The two input methods need to be equally as hard to use. The game feels amazing, i just want it to be fair. Just because using a mouse allows you to be more accurate than sticks doesn’t mean that it is easy.
If you solve this issue i think this is going to be the game i’ve been waiting for since halo 3 as i feel this game has the potential to be among the best 2 halo games. I sincerely believe that aim assist is what ruined halo for most mouse and keyboard users in mcc. None wants the controller to be unusable. All i ask is that it takes the same brain activity for a controller player to use the weapons as with an m&k player. Controller players might try to shut down this opinion because it suits them but the truth is that for a healthy player base no preferred input devices must be taken as a joke at high levels of play.

Sorry but, there’s practically no aim assist on controller. All other halo games feels so much better to play on controller because they’ve been correctly optimised. Aside for 5’s crazy aim assist issue, it felt better to play.

Git gud

There isn’t aim assist for controller right now….

Halo infinite has significantly less aim assist than any other Halo game. No offense but it’s very easy to aim with a mouse. There shouldn’t be crossplay unless between friends. Console shouldn’t have to suffer because of PC players and PC players don’t want to find console players. Take away aim assist and you have controller vs a tool that can 360 spin with easy and very accurately hit shots vs a stick, the current solution is still disadvantageous for stick players vs people who can actually aim with a mouse. High level of play will drift to pc if both are available that will just naturally happen.

I actually do well with a controller. Like 2.0 kd every game. If you thought i was bad you are not that clever my friend.

I thought the opposite was true. It seems like this is an issue on both sides.

I knew people like you would do comments such as these. It seems like you are the same guys who were saying the two inputs are balanced in mcc as well. All you have achieved is have a halo on PC populated only with controller players. Lets just hope 343 is smarter than you and realizes the damage this can cause for the player base. And guys its not ok to be better at a game with a controller when you haven’t used it for 10 years while practising with m&K for these 10 years.

Playing bots?

Out of curiosity; have you ever played an FPS with a controller without aim assist or with really weak aim assist? Might be games that predate Halo 1… Or also there is Destiny 1, there are bots that repair towers in Rise of Iron…

Where I am going with this is someone has to try to play a fast paced FPS on a controller with low aim assist before asking to have it for everyone…

Nah some people are just that good. One day you might understand .

Controller has no aim assist.

You’re clearly lying lmao, honestly that’s just sad.

It has little aim assist, and even the small amount it has breaks and you can’t even hover over people at point blank.

controller needs more aim assist

I am not gonna waste any more time to one sided players who actually take advantage of something that needs to be fixed just because it suits them. Keep up this attitude and im sure you ll get what you want. Halo infinite being a second MCC on pc where none uses m&k. Its just sad. Enough said. This guy at least gets it

2.0 but not with a mouse? The sidekick is useless on controller but great on mouse, that’s a clear spawn advantage. Make matchmaking input based and when people want to play together take away aim assist on controller players, foster 2 playerbases. Neither group actually want to crossplay full time, just as a convenience to play with friends who don’t have either / or.

I am pretty sure there is little to no aim assist at the moment. There is no form of keeping up with player movement in CQC and mid-long distance precision aiming is overly difficult to keep a bead on an enemy. I have been able to obviously identify which players are using keyboard and mouse or controller just by getting into a gun fight at a distance and seeing how much they miss. As of now, I can only imagine the competitive scene of Halo Infinite will be dominated by KnM.

Even though I DO want there to be some form of Aim Assist applied for controllers to help in the situations it was designed for, I do NOT want it to be as high as it was in previous Halo titles. I just need something to make it feel like I am not aiming my gun at the end of a long 30 foot pole. That is the difference to me. Both forms of gameplay require aim to be dragged to its target; however, KnM feels like a direct extension of ones arm when aiming while using an control stick feels like you are aiming with a long pole.

Hopefully we can find a nice sweet spot where most people on both sides are happy and we can enjoy a competitive atmosphere for the next few years.

Yup and when he “git gud” all the controller players with rage and demand more AA

No matter what they do I doubt it will be balanced. I tried telling people that MnK will be an issue, but people held their pride as if the average MnK player isn’t better than the average controller player. Just separate the two and make it so you have to opt in to cross input matchmaking.
