Aim assist is completely broken in Halo 2 MCC

It’s getting to a point where playing keyboard and mouse is not viable at all. Controller players have a very blatant advantage because of aim assist. The least that could be done is to allow players to set preferences for the input method they want to play against.

Please just stop.

This.

I agree it’s frustrating -Yoink- and turns off a majority of the pc community, the least they can do is turn off controllers for the competitive playlist

Same issues are on the Halo CE when drive the warthog

Why should I stop? The game isn’t fun for me because of this, particularly Halo 2. Would implementing a filter really be that big a deal?

you should stop because what you want is a different game.

I think the best for both worlds is optional input-based matchmaking. Some Halo games undenyable have some strong aim assist that in some cases can be unbalanced for mouse, and that as well has faster turn speed and sniping accuracy, so unless you want more population or crossplay, they should be separated. At the same time, the old games feeling shouldn’t be changed so it’s the best option.

Moreover, I believe Halo 2 will be able to support it, given that this specific game has something for everyone: classic, modern, forge…

A different game? It’s the same game with a different control method. It’s supposed to be Halo for PC and the primary input method for PC is keyboard and mouse. I didn’t even say that we should get rid of aim assist on PC altogether (though that wouldn’t be a bad idea). All I asked for was the ability to tweak search parameters so I don’t have to face people who have a very clear advantage because of aim assist.

 • FFS Not again. - What you going to do when cross play starts. - What you going to do when Halo infinite is released a Cross play game. - Are you really going to nerf what will be the majority of the player base due to the fact all the players on Xbox use a Controller - Or do you expect all the Xbox Player use a Mouse and Keyboard. - At a Guess I would say over 80% of players will be on Xbox As a lot get MCC Halo for Free and Halo infinite Will most likely be a Game Pass game for PC and Xbox. - Yes it needs to be sorted but Input match selection will not work as you can hot swap. - Remove the ability to Hot Swap and you lose a chunk of the player base who prefer a controller. - So the only real option is for it to be tuned for better balance but then one would have to nerf some of the advantages you claim to get from a Mouse like faster turning to make it Fair all around.

There’s a simple answer to every single one of your answers: Don’t have cross-play. All it does is present balance issues and make the game more frustrating for many people. Keep those who prefer keyboard and mouse on one platform (PC) and those who prefer a controller on the other (Xbox). The solution is that simple but it pains to know that we’ll never see this happen because 343 are too scared to just get rid of aim assist on PC altogether (which would be the best option for everyone).

Well -Yoink- on a bun you saying that because I prefer controller input I should not be allowed to game on a PC??? Not a well though out answer there bro.

Your solution remove all controller support from the PC gaming market.

No other respectable competitive shooter on PC allows aim assist for controllers, so why should Halo be any different? If you want to play with a controller with aim assist, play on console. Don’t ruin the experience for other people who have waited years for these games to come out on PC. Would it really grieve you that much to have to play the game on Xbox anyway? I don’t really understand why a person who uses a controller would want to play Halo on PC anyway. You might as well just play on console because there’s no difference between the two versions if you use a controller.

Well I have been using a controller on the PC way back in the early 1990s friend so why should I change my preferred input method to suit you.

And yet you seem quite happy to ruin gaming for me.

All it needs it to be balanced not removed. I have the right to play any game on any platform I want to using any commercial available input device of my choice not yours.

Why can’t you just play the game on console? Shooters on PC are meant to be played with a keyboard and mouse. It’s not fair that we have to deal with controller players who have a literal aimbot.

It is not fair that people like you try to dictate how I play a game and how I must change the way I have been playing for over 40 years just to suit people like you.

So we’re supposed to facilitate players like you then? You do realise how fundamentally wrong it is that one portion of the playerbase gets an aimbot while the other portion doesn’t? On top of that, controller players can just play on console because there is absolutely difference between the two if that is your preferred input method.

Well I did say it needs to be fixed but you seem to have glossed over that fact just so you can feel good about you skill level.
How about this they set it up to be used by input method but lock down the scroll speed and button speed so every person using a mouse and Keyboard have the extract same amount of input data and input speed. This way it will be skill and not the fact you have better faster input devices than the competition.

PC players have every right to use a controller if they want to, and Aim Assist isn’t going anywhere. These games were made for a platform that uses controllers, and just because they’re now on PC doesn’t mean that the functionality for controllers has to be removed. Aim Assist and controller functionality are staying. You don’t like it? Play a game that doesn’t have controller support.

Mouse and keyboard have big advantages over controllers as well. There are advantages to both. I don’t think it’s accurate to simplify this issue to “controller + aim assist will always have advantage over keyboard/mouse.” I personally use both. A skilled mouse user can simply dominate controller users with a sniper. Perhaps there’s a discussion to be had about maybe toning auto-aim down a bit, but I think separate playlists will only further divide and hurt the online population, which already struggles at times (I often can’t find ranked matches on PC…)
