Hey guys, I just finished playing the flight after about two hours, (I don’t mean to rub it in for the people still trying to get in) and I wanted to know if anyone had any insight on aim assist. I am playing on PC but using a controller. The aim assist feels almost non-existent. Is this due to my choice of platform, or are you Xbox guys experiencing the same thing? I was missing shots with the sniper that I would’ve pulled in my sleep on Halo 3. Thanks in advance!
Nah man, I’m feeling the same. I don’t think there’s no aim assist, it’s just not as smooth as previous Halo titles. I feel like I’m overcompensating with my thumb stick movements left and right to hit shots. I’m so used to how aiming feels on MCC with older Halo games that it was a bit rough to try and get used to this. It felt particularly bad for weapons like the Sidekick, Skewer, Commando and Sniper when scoped in. I’m on PC as well, so I’d love the console perspective and what they think about it.
I am playing on Xbox and the aim assist is non existent, missing 80% of my shots with the sidekick.
Being fair aim assist on PC should be toned down to compensate for Mouse and Keyboard players. Look at the MCC forum, one of the most frequent complaints you get are about the unfair advantage aim assist and magnetism give controller players. As harsh as this might sound, if you’re making an FPS from the ground up for PC as 343 claims, it needs to be built with Mouse and Keyboard in mind as the primary input method.
You should have enough aim assist to take the edge off of not having the precision of a mouse, but no more.
aim assist def seems pretty low in this game compared to other halos for sure, id be fine with it as long as they add different response curves. im so used to running a "reverse S curve in Titanfall/apex/warzone that the standard just doesnt keep up for me.
I noticed the lack of aim assist too, I was trying to no scope a friggin bot and got killed! Im gonna miss aim assist
I will say that this could be the case. No or little aim assist. I have not noticed any really and I love it. I absolutely hate aim assist. Any time I can turn it off I do. I just played a game where I ran the main sidearm the almost the whole round minus one kill with the needler and had 52% accuracy. Not the best but I certainly intentionally wasted shots at distance to check hit boxes and stuff. The one problem I have seen is that headshots are not registering for me at times. 100% spot on headshot kills are not counting as headshot kills.
I am not on the PC insider tech test so I cannot say for that. But I played another after typing the above paragraph to check and used nothing but the starting pistol. And it certainly feels like there is no aim assist at all. Typically I notice even the smallest movement. But did not get that feel. So if there is aim assist it is extremely low to the point of being almost none existent. I did not feel any of that typical aim assist pull. I had 73.45% accuracy. But part of the misses were the extra shot after getting a kill. Certainly all headshots were not registering as headshot though.
I’m on Pc and i havent really noticed this too much, i like the way it is tho. Using a controller is fine. Im still absoluttly garbage with a mouse and keyboard though
but i did have to turn the inner deadzone settings to 0 to actually hit anything
I don’t think there is any aim assist with this preview. The slow down radius and magnitude need to be adjusted. It needs to slow down in a larger space and with greater intensity. Halo has always been a controller oriented game so it is really important to have aim assist.

Mouse and keyboard players are at a severe advantage due to the increased control you have with a mouse. Mouse and keyboard is actually banned in many FPS leagues such as Call of Duty because of how much easier it is to track and lock onto players. I am someone Mouse and Keyboard for CSGO and Controller for Halo and Call of Duty. I may end up switching to mouse and keyboard in Halo if the aim assist is not increased. There is a reason no one uses controller in CSGO and I am worried about the same fate for Halo Infinite.
is that why aiming feels so off? 343, are you planning on fixing this?
if you can import all the reaching settings for movement, aiming and TTK, everything would be perfect. (everything else is super solid)
I’m seeing multiple threads on here and reddit, everyone is experiencing the same issue it seems…
I think the aim assist is still pretty clear in some weapons like the sniper. And without a pro aim assist, the matches are going to be more balanced between pc and Xbox players.
I think the amount of aim assist on controller for Halo Infinite is ‘Perfect’ like the announcer says
There is Aim Assist and Bullet Magnetism, it’s not as strong as before highlighting how bad your aim really is. This is good, the assist and magnetism in previous Halos is INSANE, putting the skill ceiling very low. Now you actually have to… aim.
This is good news for PC players, I have no problem staying on the top in MCC PC but the effort I put into aiming is much greater compared to controller. I can aim with a controller in my sleep in previous titles, now you have to have your eyes open.

Aiming on a PC is inherently easier to a controller. Try using a controller to navigate a web browser; it is much harder.
As for skill ceiling, aiming is not the end all be all. FPS games that utilize aim assist on controller have skill ceilings more geared towards movement and timing rather than aiming.
I first thought that I had “Aim Assist” turned off in the options… But it is almost non-existent in the game. After playing many other FPS with controller, I doubt my abilities in Infinite. Enemies/bots laser me away in seconds and hit me even when I jump, slide, etc. (as if they were using an Aimbot).
But I had trouble hitting the enemies accurately. I have experimented a lot in the controller settings, also use a scuf controller with paddles, but aiming is very, very difficult. Mouse/keyboard players have absolutely precise aiming with the mouse and can dish out headshots with millimeter accuracy like a surgeon, while also being able to move more precisely and accurately.
Aim Assist with the controller is therefore absolutely necessary (as it is with all other multiplayer FPS on console), otherwise Infinite is almost unplayable (or extremely frustrating).
Here’s my two cents: I think a bit more aim assist would be great to have for the controller players, playing with a controller is not easier as one person here already mentioned. In MCC plenty of M&K players have destroyed me in matches and we still have aim assist, sometimes quite a bit of it. It doesn’t need to be a lot but a little would be nice. For feedback in general it would be nice if when you were on the PC playing with a controller and the game recognized that as the input it would give you a bit more aim assist as if you were on the console as well if that is how it might be planned to be implemented.

I agree and disagree. I just had a match I am looking at the scoreboard. I have 63% accuracy. I was 11-2 with 7 assists. The thing is, looking at the scoreboard, the next highest accuracy is 40% and that player took much fewer shots hitting 72 of 182. I took 443 shots and hit 279 total. Other than that the accuracy of many I have seen is down in the mid-low 30s almost ever game. Though this is why I always loved SWAT and mostly play that because headshots dominate. And very often I get great matches even if my team loses. Headshots and aiming are more important in that mode.
The thing is this is not going to be a popular thing with the masses for sure. I wonder if they make some changes in this regard. Personally I would not want it but I realize they are making a game for everybody to enjoy and not to cater to the few. So I fully expect some of this to change.
I am fine with the current set up for aim assist and magnetism.
However, come release and it starts becoming clear that M&K start dominating there may need to be adjustments but only then.
