The small tweaks since the last flight help a little, but it’s still way too easy for your reticle to go flying off your target. The aim magnetism is just plain too weak.
I have a buddy who was playing M&K and wasn’t doing too good then he switched to controller and did way better.
Im sorry, but this is not accurate. Ive played every single Halo, and countless other FPS on both console and PC, and the aiming on controller for Halo Infinite is awful.
I hear M&K people complain about aim assist all the time. I only play Swat (mostly Halo 3)
But real talk… You ever seen an M&K user in a Wraith? It is crazy! They can 360 that thing in 0.02 seconds. Lol
Thank you! I was gonna say I’m a super competative player and im sucking so much at this now that im using KB+M. We have a major disadvantage and this needs to be fixed.
I don’t think I agree with this. I play on pc and exclusively use controller. I did my ten ranked matches for open/crossplay and for solo/controllers only and I found the experiences identical.
The problem is that almost all of the default aim settings are bad and need to be changed.
This debate will never end. You’re just on the brown end of the stick this time. Sucks, huh? Lol. Mouse and keyboard will always be superior without aim assist because you can be more accurate. Period. In previous games, like MCC, the amount of aim assist for controller made MKB feel bad for the majority of players because aim assist allowed the controller players to win almost every time. Even pros complained. Its2 probably the closest to balanced in its current iteration than it has ever been. This is what happy medium looks like because the other way (MCC) it was literraly unplayable.
Okay, so if I understood your point correctly, aim assist is bad because it gives casual controller players the capability to effectively fight back against mouse and keyboard’s superior aim and reflexes? That doesn’t seem fair whatsoever. Why should I be actively discouraged from playing the game with a controller when mouse and keyboard players by default have an undisputable advantage over me?
Edit: I suppose I should clarify that I assume you do mean aim assist and not aim snapping. They’re different things and both are designed for different purposes. Aim assist is the slowing of the reticle when looking at the enemy for the purpose of easier tracking of the target. Conversely, aim snapping is when you aim your sights at a target, and the reticle instantly snaps to either center mass, or the head. Halo has always had aim assist, and not snapping.
I will agree that the default aim settings are absolute garbage, there doesn’t seem to be a good middle ground between anything in my experience so far, it’s either too fast or too slow.
a basic gaming K&M set is $20 and the console version is compatible. If you really think the hardware is the issue…
Hardware isn’t the issue, as I stated the game simply has little to no aim assist for controllers. The controller itself isn’t what’s wrong, but rather the game seemingly punishing players for using said input methods. It also seems to fry all muscle memory built-up from previous entries in the series to make the game seem more “skill based” and “competitive” rather than intuitive and familiar to returning veterans and people who frequently play older Halos.
I don’t know if I’m missing something (average player here) but the controller aiming feels fine.
I think my accuracy sits around what I was getting in Halo 5 - so the reduced aim assist seems to sit comfortably with the reduced amount of movement shenanigans.
I’ve always tended to the lower sensitivity anyway… so sitting around 2-3 seems pretty normal to me. And I read somewhere that a lot of the pros have low sensitivity anyway - something about positioning is 9/10 of the battle and then you need the accuracy for the headshots.
I’ve still got a lot or work to do working out the optimal ranges of the new weapons… but so far so good.
If the issue was a simple as not having the correct sensitivity, then I and many others wouldn’t be having these issues. I normally play my first person shooters at higher sensitivity, but with a higher deadzone to compensate and feel like slower aim, but with the reactivity of higher sensitivity. And it isn’t even with Halo in particular either, people have similar issues with Battlefield 2042, and it’s assumed that the aim assist in that game is just bugged outright instead of a purposeful design choice.
I will agree with you about positioning and familiarity is very important to Halo, and while I’m nowhere near good a positioning, my aim is suffering from something, and it sure isn’t my settings, because I have a similar setup in MCC.
Let alone the sensitivity options:/
I’ve historically been a pretty good Halo player, and I also think that aiming on controller in this game feels awful not only in comparison to older Halo games but also relative to almost all other AAA shooters. I don’t think separating MnK players from controller players will fix the issue either, because IMO gunplay on controller feels bad in its own right. I’m still doing fairly well for the most part, but I feel clumsy the entire time. I get the feeling I’m only winning because other controller players are just as clumsy, which obviously isn’t how a shooter should play.
I played one match with my xbox controller, got 4 kills, died 12 times. Did the same with mouse and keybaord +10 or more kills, 10 or less deaths lol, it’s almost impossible to aim without using your movement (to walk).
EDIT: Also on controller my fights had me in way closer range than normal, the difference of like 100 meters.
I’m on controller this whole time. So far so good. No punishment on me so far. Sounds like a personal issue.
I actually think Controller feels really good, whereas in both the July Tech Test and the September Tech Test, Controller felt awful. However, M&K stills feels as awful as it did back with those Tech Tests. Something just feels off with M&K, I don’t really know how to fully explain it. It just doesn’t feel like it does in any other PC game.
I also feel the same way about M&K in MCC. I can’t play either Infinite or MCC with M&K, despite the fact that I can hop on Destiny 2 and top frag on M&K, or hop on COD Vanguard, or BF 2042, and top frag with M&K, but something about M&K in Halo feels off. It feels like 343 is using some weird tech for their M&K support that’s unlike any other game.
Personally i don’t feel like there’s that much advantage, if any. I play a mix of both, and I really think it’s more a matter of comfort. There’s just a lot of people who play M&K who have gotten very good at aiming with minimal aim assist. At least, that’s what I see.
Um, they don’t. Instant turning with banshees? Instant turning with wraiths? Only possible with mous.
