Has anyone heard ANYTHING new, regarding 343 giving us an option to TOTALLY eliminate aim acceleration? For a game that wants you to be SO accurate, they don’t give you the tools to do so. Now it just becomes “Who can work around the broken aiming” and not “Who can actually aim”. Some people have their sensitivity on 3 or 4 (with acceleration on 2) and they move like a tank (using the thrust to turn around quickly. If I put the acceleration to 1 or 5, then make quick movements with the right stick, there is always a lag period. WHY? Combine this with the incredibly low diagonal speed movement, and thrusting… and you are just fighting the controls to play. It’s just a frustrating experience
I don’t think removing aim acceleration would help much. Pretty much every game ever has aim acceleration.
I think the problem is the way it’s implemented in this game, but I also think that the aiming is just flawed at its core, regardless of aim acceleration.

have you changed your dead zones yet, naturally there is 15% inner dead zone, which is why there would be a lag.

Most pros play with these settings, usually 4 sense 3 aim accel, or some close variation of that (ie 4,2 or 3,3) and I do not see them moving like tanks. I play 5, 3 and my accuracy with precision weapons is usually above 50%. Maybe your dead zones are turned up? Or maybe you just have bad aim.

The acceleration is still new to me cause I’ve been using the stick to aim guns since the N64 so I know what you mean. After testing it for a while I think 1 kind of feels like it’s off. There’s still a minor speed increase but you’ll only notice it when you’re using long range sights. Which can be annoying, I hate acceleration. But what I did was set it to 1 and reduce my movement speed by 1 so I’m at 2.
As for the lag you might want to check out the settings, hidden at the bottom it has INNER and OUTER DEAD ZONE. It might be that? If you don’t use acceleration and you have it set on low you’ll really notice that inner deadzone. I have mine on 0 cause I’m long ranged so I always go for snipers, lightrifles ect. which can be annoying when making tiny adjustments. But I’d try it at 5% and outer deadzone is basically acceleration again so you might want to turn that off.
The aim has always felt a little off to me too except on certain rare occasions where it just seems to click for me, it seems kind of related to how tired I am, I think the aiming just takes a lot more concentration than I’m used to with most shooters. I wouldn’t necessarily call it broken, if you watch the pros play they can usually stay very on point. It just boils down to getting the right feel and maintaining your concentration

> ay. It’s just a frustrating experience
there’s no problem with aim aceleration, you’re just blaming it for bad aiming. You can turn your outer deadzone to zero so acceleration is only in effect when the stick is pegged. Why are you aiming with the stick pegged??
edit: Reading what you’ve said again, it seems you’re just confused about what aim acceleration is. You’re complaining about lag after you start moving the stick, which isn’t acceleration, and you complain about turning slowly and yet you want to get rid of aim acceleration? You seem really confused.

made me lol
You do realize the aim acceleration setting exclusively determines cross-hair speed when applying 100% input, correct? If you’re not pushing the stick to it’s max aim acceleration is irrelevant. You’re not doing this when making precision aiming.movements. Or, at least, I hope not. It is for sweeping to targets and looking around. The only way it can negatively impact your aim is if the speed difference between full input and less than full input interferes with your muscle memory. I could see this because you really need to have a feel for two speeds, one to acquire targets and one to make aim adjustments. I suppose it would make sense to have the option to turn it off though…
I have a sensitivity of 10, acceleration of 5 and inner dead zone of 0 as well as outer of 15… I think I need a bit faster.

My dead zones are at 0%. you can check my stats, my accuracy is 50-55% (Actually, that lower than usual because my accuracy was lower before the Dec update. Since then I’ve been between 58-63%)… I’ll clip a fly’s nuts off, with any precision gun, actually. But while clipping them, I’ve been still fighting with the acceleration. In the beta, my accuracy was 66-69%.
Anyway, it’s not the deadzone… the stick is registering when it’s supposed to, it’s just slow then ramps up. The issue is when you make adjustments (and move around), the stick stays in its slow state.

Read what you just wrote… now weren’t Pros aimig perfectly before the Dec update (when the aiming was TOTALLY messed up? Why would it be any different now? Mmmmmk then…

Damn!
The lag period is there because it still takes time to ramp up. Even at 5 it’s not instant, so you’ll notice that slow spot before it kicks in, it’ just kicks in faster than it would at 2/3/4.

^ this guys
seriously its not aim acceleration you should be complaining about.
COD has some of the most accurate aiming ever (not the aim assist… the actual looking/moving mechanic. Titanfall is also one of the best and BOTH of those have pretty “instant” movement. Halo 5 should be just like this… ESPECIALLY with the little amount of auto aim. The fact that it’s not 1:1 makes it very difficult to make quicker movements (and small adjustments). The game turns annoying to play. I just want to know if anyone has brought this up to 343 because they CLEARLY didn’t get the memo in the Dec update.

No, I’m talking about the actual mechanic of moving the cross hairs, NOT them sticking to enemy/bullets tracking enemies.
Well you do realize every halo game ever has had aim acceleration right? It’s just now you can actually set it. Don’t keep changing settings without adjusting first

Halo, Halo 2, Reach, and Halo 4, it was VERY slight. Halo 3 was awful… Halo 5’s aim acceleration is worse than Halo 3… and it sucks because the Halo 5 Beta was like Halo 4. It just sucks and I just want to know if 343 is aware of people wanting the option to take it completely out of the game. MANY people find the aiming frustrating and the biggest part is this acceleration that these “Pros” put into the game.
Just put it at 1. That’s crazy slow if not zero. Aim acceleration only kicks in when you’re touching the edge with your stick. Try practicing keeping your stick from the edge.
