AI Teammates are derp

This is only my second time soloing one of these games on Legendary (first time was Halo 4 - I’m a baby to the hard stuff) and I was wondering if your AI squad was supposed to be as dumb as rocks? No offense intended - since I’m bad at Legendary, I don’t know if it’s purposefully that way just so you can’t get carried through the mission by your teammates, or if the AI is supposed to be good and just… Isn’t.

Example one: teammate standing directly next to me when I’m shot down. Cue teammate running ten feet in the opposite direction, straight into enemy fire.
Example two: fall down on top of a crate with teammate standing next to me. Cue teammate walking off of crate, then having trouble getting back up.
Example three: fall down, entire squad stops in their tracks and remains motionless while in line of enemy fire.
Example four: a three stooges-esque scene in which I actually manage to be revived, but every other member of the squad falls down and is revived at least three times during the process

I can totally understand if the levels are curved for solo play and I’m relying too much on what is otherwise be a get-lucky-get-revived feature, but with all the huge firefights in the campaign so far it really feels like it’s catered to your whole squad being competent.

They’re not supposed to be incredibly smart (they won’t slide into cover or anything) but right now they’re pitiful. A few times I’ve ended up screaming at them to come revive me, because that’s what Legendary does to you. (Yes! Buck! Wait… where are you going? Damn it, Buck!)

I hate Vale, Kelli, and Linda…I can live with the others…

What’s wrong with being derp?

I have unfortunately gotten into the habit of reloading the last checkpoint immediately after falling rather than waiting hopelessly for one of the AI to navigate the maze that is a straight, horizontal path.

They were pretty good with reviving when I solo’d Legendary, but they are quite bad for the purpose they were implemented to begin with. In CE I can see why AI would be dumb, you’re supposed to feel like a God, with mortals crumbling around you. In 5, well gee, your team is all Spartans, they should fight better than they do. Even at that, this was a pretty easy campaign to solo. (I’ve completed solo Legendary on every Halo, with the exception of Wars)

So true, I never had any problems completing Halo games on Legendary solo, but since Halo 5 now has teammates that can support you (only a little bit) it should’ve been a slightly easier to complete it on this difficulty because you have help now…I’ve never been so wrong…when you need your teammates the most they just stand there and let you die. Its kind of frustrating…but that’s expected of Halo on the Legendary difficulty and to be honest, the AI on the teammates needs some work.

ye OP lol there like the old marine AI’s but a tiny bit smarter. I tried the campaign on legendary but I quit because of this and that fact that once they are dead your screwed on a part where there are lots of enemies spawning in because the campaign difficulty has been scaled up to reflect the squad mechanic I’m pretty sure
