AI Improvement

I’ve been playing a lot of campaign lately and you know what I noticed. Each game the enemy AI is improved but the ally AI seems identical in all of them. That is to say it seems as though everyone you work with were simultaneously dropped on their heads during a lobotomy. None of them are capable of performing the simplest of tasks. The enemies shoot you, you’re allies shoot the areas around your enemies. You drive a warthog and you’re surrounded by three enemy tanks, you’re allies shoot a grunt that’s running away. You try to take the turret, your driver stops right in range of every enemy in the area. This needs to be fixed in future installments.

QFT!!! I 100% agree.

ahahaha, I completely agree, the friendly AI driving is blasphemous :stuck_out_tongue: and hasn’t changed (maybe gotten worse) from the days of CE…

Reach (human) AI is by far the worst AI in any of the games.

Depends mostly on the situation and the difficulty. Halo has always given you dumb-as-rocks AI on the higher difficulties. On Normal, though, friendlies tend to be more competent – they make their shots, and their grenades land near the enemies rather than under your feet.

That said, Reach’s allied AI is quite a downgrade from Halo 3’s.

It would be nice to see the AI on both sides improve in Halo 4. Personally I’m hoping that higher difficulties mean smarter allies and enemies, rather than just turning every alien on the map into a damage sponge. :\

They may be damage sponges, but it’s always hilarious to see Legendary enemies do the stupidest things. It’s the only reason why I do LASO challenges (because, for some reason, there seems to be a hidden skull that activates hilarious enemy behavior like elites splattering teammates while shifting, Wraiths boosting off cliffs, Grunts sticking another Grunt and getting -4 for 3 betrayals and a suicide).

After Reach, I’m now at the point where I don’t want ANY FRIENDLY AI anymore. Let it be me and me alone. I don’t need allies, I don’t want allies, I don’t like allies. >:(
