AI hacks in BTB has tons of potential (loot cave)

I think the loot cave feature discussed in the tech preview stream is an excellent idea. A few ideas immediately popped into my mind for interesting ways this idea could be adjusted for other maps.

What if you could do things like open up new routes into/ out of a base? It would be kind of like opening Zanzibar’s road blocks, or lowering the gate on High Ground, but instead of just pushing a button you have to complete a hack cycle.

I think another cool idea could be a hack spot in the middle of the map that would call a new warthog or wasp into your base. So if a team completes the secondary objective hack they end up with a small boost in vehicle firepower, kind of like how the loot cave gives you a boost in weapon firepower.

I just think this feature has so much cool potential if expanded on correctly!

I agree. I’ll be all over that loot cave when they open it up…

Yeah my hopes are this is the tip of the iceburg and theres more they have yet to show. They teased earlier that you could interact with maps with your ai but it would be so dissapointing if it was just loot caves. Sneaking into the enemy base and having one guy guard while you hack into and open up their defense bays would be perfect. Id also like to see teleporters that you can activate for your whole team to travel midway through the map on maps like fracture. An airlock bay you could open on a space facility? I hope a lot of hopes for this one. But well see.

Yea, using the AI as a vehicle for map intractability is awesome. Being able to like, turn off a light bridge, or activate gravity lifts into an enemy base would be so cool, I really hope this gets expanded upon in future maps or game modes.

Yeah I really hope the A.I is more than just opening up weapon caches and spouting cheeky remarks. I’d like medium scale map interactivity, like opening up doors and activating bridges. Just imagine disabling a bridge while and enemy team is riding to an objective or your position.

Thats awesome.

Absolutely, would need to make sure it’s difficult to do like maybe two Spartans have to initiate the button press within 10 seconds of each other and have the buttons either side of the width of the bridge. I don’t know, something interactive that changes the map!

If there is a river, open the floodgates and make it deeper so warthogs are slower in it. Something interesting please.

Yes!

Having your AI hack more that just loot caves is an awesome idea. There’s so much potential with the sandbox.

Imagine being able to re-close the gate on Zanzibar or Highground?

100 percent agree with all of this! I wonder if there will be a vehicle cache of some sort. Just one or two vehicles a room. I think these caches serve as a checkpoint because the maps seem to be way bigger.

20 seconds without contest is too long for a match, your teammates are busy in attacking and defending, and you two stayed there 20 seconds just for a hammer and an equipment? This timeframe is enough for 5-6 players killed. They should improve this part.

For potential, for example, how about activating MAC bombing in an area for 3 seconds or so on. They can go further, such as multi stages.

I’m curious how they will use this mechanic. Past mechanics like the switches on Zanzibar, Containment, and Longshore come to mind, where you could open paths on the map for easier access to enemy bases and the like. Though admittedly if you have to hold the position that long to get it open the advantage would have to be quite a bit stronger than just opening the front door of the base. I’m thinking opening a pathway that cuts right through the center of a map to the other side, or activating a man cannon that can launch you all the way from a middle position into the enemy base… Even activating the portal on Relic from the attacker’s side, instead of needing to do it from the danger of the defender’s. Stuff like that which would make it more worthwhile to stick around for the hack.
