AI Drivers

Any ideas why AI gunners in a warthog are absolute crack shots but when in the driving seat seem to have no idea what they are doing! They just drive up to the largest group of enemies and stop! Unfrigginbelieveable!!

You must not have ridden with Kat.

Cause AI can just autoaim they are computers see target shoot, however driving pshh think of all the different variables you personally have to deal with while driving a warthog such as paths, enemies, obstacles and so forth. Now while in the gun what do you have to do? Just point and shoot.

I understand but I just wish they wouldn’t stop!

It’s one of the few things 343i left from previous games.

I remember in an Interview, Frankie once said, “it’s using the same engine, I’m sure one line of code is from the original Halo” (something like that)

I like to think that line of code is the reason AIs are so limited at driving, Bungie/343i have just left it in there to pay homage to the fans.

If you’ve tried using human drivers in multiplayer that you aren’t in vocal contact with, then you’ll find that the AI is pretty accurate in it’s odd behaviour of driving right into enemies (trying to splatter them) then stopping (getting plasma pistoled).

Seriously, it is very hard for the AI to divine the intentions of a gunner other than to see where they are aiming and head that way.
