AI Campaign Allies

Does anybody know what how AI allies are supposed to function in Halo 4 compared to Reach? Will the AI be able to efficiently drive and not die in half a second on higher difficulties. We won’t have any Kat like allies that have an unfortunate and unrelenting desire to “accidentally” murder their allies (mainly the player) I hope.

I have no clue but 343 would be really risking their reputation to neglect friendly AI performance.

know one knows but I am sure they will not be like Kat… hopefully

hopfuly better driving AI

343 has done good with things so far, lets hope AI performance hasn’t become an oversight.

I certainly hope we’ll see some good ally AI this time around.

All i want is allies who can fight and be still alive by the end of the fight (or if killed at least contributed something significant to the battle before their demise) and allies that can drive without splattering me, or driving me off a cliff should I desire to use the turret of a warthog (Kat!!!)

Regardless of any upgraded AI, I am still not letting them drive. (:

I agree with you. I don’t think anybody will ever trust AI drivers again after Kat no matter how upgraded the AI is.

Anyone else find it funny how Kat was shot in the head when she didn’t even have a brain to be shot.

The nightmares…

Kat: “Can I drive?”

Me: “Umm okay”

Kat: “Is that a cliff I see?”

Me: “Kat…”

Kat: “I wonder if warthogs can fly.”

Me: “What are you doing?”

Kat: “It’s begging to be tried!”

Me: Kat.

Kat: “For science!”

Me: “Stahp”

I think Kat gives all spartans nightmares with her poor driving skills.

They could just make them as good as the enemy AI… Couldn’t they?

Biggest mistake I made when I first played that Spire mission. Why Kat was possessed to drive directly into that Wraith, I will never understand.

> They could just make them as good as the enemy AI… Couldn’t they?

That would be making the level a lot easier in some ways.

Perhaps not in damage but in intelligence i think is what he/she is referring to.

Not if they had low health.

CE: they did not have the brains to drive, but they follow Chief most of the time, and they could be pretty effective when there were a lot of them and they were aided by Chief. They had low health; plasma grenades from Grunts were the most dangerous to them. They were supportive. Their presence introduced some dynamic of prioritizing (which will be stressed in Halo 4 when fighting Prometheans) if you chose to save them.

Halo 2: damage sponges and they had decent aggression. If the enemies weren’t damage sponges, the level would play itself, even on Legendary. They were beastly supportive, especially with the addition of giving them power weapons.
Halo 3: about the same as Halo 2. They can wreck Brutes on Legendary when they’re not being shot at and have decent weapons, and they actually stay in cover. They were more or less beastly supportive.

Reach: damage sponges and horrible at anything. What good are they except to cause frame rate loss and give us ammo? Only the soulless would ask for this terrible combination to return.

Halo 4 has an achievement which has players saving marines in Spartan Ops. Now imagine if they were Reach AI. I shudder at the thought of putting up with that bs.

Oh god. It they were, first thing i would’ve said is this one is going to drive me off a ledge.

For the sake of gameplay balance, Marines training standards have to be lower than the darkest depths of hell.

I’m not saying make them walking tanks but at least make balance them with something like the AI lifespan of Halo 2/3 and give them the ability to put up a fight. And make them use cover again. I can stand how the AI just walk out into the open against generals or chieftains with fuel rod guns, concussion rifles, etc and just get wasted in mere seconds becoming completely useless. Exodus was a pain with how much AI allies liked to alert the ENTIRE area to our presence and get me killed in half a second by a focus rifle party with concussion rifles or fuel rod guns.

Ever again? AI driving has NEVER done me any favors.

AI Driver: YEEEHAAA GIANT CIRCLES!!!

Me: I want to go over there ->

AI Driver: WOOHOO LEFT TURN!
