Ahievements & Stats not updating? Here's a fix!

Like many my in-game statistics were not tracking, and I’d only realized after 15 hours and my friends had new banners and I didn’t, which to be honest made no sense cause I’m waaaay better at the game than them. That’s besides the point. I’d gotten help from a friend and we did some work on my PC and found a likely fix. I then shared this solution in a couple other forum posts with people complaining they’re also having the issue and it turned out it fixed their issue as well!

I.e https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/85d779d52cfd46918b4f8b638f2e3c7b/topics/mcc-reach-not-tracking-my-game-data/15336b97-9c4c-4d41-b444-e411d917451f/posts?page=1#post19

I want to make this separate post so people can quickly use the search function to find it. On top of that, I’d like it very much if you all would comment on this post with any additional fixes, or just comment if it worked for you so we can keep the thread on the top of support to help the many others facing this problem find it easily.

Dear friendos, I had the same issue. A buddy of mine and I fixed it was the following:

My issue was my PC blocking microsoft for some reason. You’re going to need to locate your hosts file.

> C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc

It might not be called a C: drive if you renamed it. Either way, once you’re there you’ll see a list of files, you’re looking for the one titled ‘hosts’. Copy that file with ctrl + c just in case you mess up, and then past it in the same /etc area, then rename it to hosts.bak so you have a backup that isn’t interfering. If you mess up some crazy stuff can happen, like not being able to connect to the internet, so it’s important you save a backup.

Once you have a backup saved, click on the hosts file and open it in notepad. You’re going to see a bunch of nonsense that looks like the following.

> # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
> #
> # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
> #
> # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
> # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
> # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
> # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
> # space.
> #
> # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
> # lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
> #
> # For example:
> #
> # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
> # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
> # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
> # 127.0.0.1 localhost
> # ::1 localhost

If yours is longer than what I have put in the spoiler, delete the stuff after. That’s stuff your PC is blocking access too. I’m pretty confident most people aren’t blocking anything that is dangerous, or it would have already done stuff. Once you clear out what your PC is holding back, save the file, restart your PC, and then comment whether or not this worked for you too.

I look forward to enjoying this wave of nostalgia with all of you. See you on the battlefield, Spartans.
ps. pls like this post if it worked, idk if that does anything but I’m a dirty boi when it comes to fake internet points.

You, sir, are a hero. You have my everlasting gratitude!

i looked and my hosts file was exactly the same as what you posted, and yet the stats on my game are still not updating. i really want to use the new skull to fly around.

Its ridiculous that in-game stats would be so tied to your network configuration. Does the game run a local server for these stats? Hm…

Props to you OP, this could help someone.
