AGLA Grifball League Signups Open!

Nearly 6 years ago, Grifball was created by Rooster Teeth as a joke in their popular series Red vs. Blue. The concept behind the game was simple, two teams of four armed with hammers and swords face off in an empty court and try to take the grifball to the opponent’s goal and detonate it. What started as a joke evolved in to a popular assault variant played in custom games in Halo 3, to being added to matchmaking, to getting its own gametype that came on-disc in Halo 4. Throughout the years we’ve seen many innovations to the game, such as the ability to throw the bomb, which have made it even more exciting.

As Grifball has grown, so has the Grifball league that Rooster Teeth established. The American Grifball League of America, or AGLA, has been the home of competitive Grifball since its creation. The AGLA has run 19 seasons across 3 different Halo games, and is about to start its 20th season.

Starting last season, the AGLA made a huge overhaul to the way the league is formatted. The league is now run in a bid format, where players sign up individually and assigned captains are given credits to bid on a team. This format was a resounding success, and it will continue to be used. This season it is being expanded with the creation of an Ammy League alongside the Pro League that will work the same way.

This is your chance to get in to the action! Signups for this AGLA season are open now, and open to anybody. No entry fee or team required, you sign up individually providing your availability and you’ll be bid on by captains and put on a team. If this seems like something you’re interested in, you can check out the details and signup here. Signups close this Friday at 11:59 pm eastern, so signup soon!

If you’re looking for a little more competition than you’ll find in matchmaking, or to join one of the best communities on Halo, or just to have fun playing Grifball with new friends, check it out!
