Is anyone else watching the AGL games right now? They are super intense however, i think its really annoying how they are constantly trash talking and yelling at the other team. I dunno, what do you guys think?? haha it just seems weird and i feel like its giving AGL a bad rep.
Don’t watch if you think trash talking is annoying, its been a part of almost all events…smh.
Super intense, it’s all just adrenaline hitting them hit so they’re really tight strung.
> Don’t watch if you think trash talking is annoying, its been a part of almost all events…smh.
sorry i contradicted myself. I think more that it just gives AGL a bad reputation rather than it being annoying.
How bad is the trash talking? Just little cuts and jibs here and there or full on insults and attacks?
> How bad is the trash talking? Just little cuts and jibs here and there or full on insults and attacks?
I hate seeing poor winners, I believe it’s the psycological reprocussion of being losers all their lives, never learning to be a good winner and be humble and act professional as if it’s not the first time and not the last they will win. Now that they can be winners in video games, well, they act like a 4 year old that just won a game.
They’re all really good friends outside of the tournaments. In games they talk some smack just because it gets really intense.
The same thing happens in tons of sports. In hockey, former teammates will meet before the game and shake hands, and in the middle of the game might fight each other.
These guys are 18-22 year old males. There’s going to be trash talk and testosterone.
You church ladies might want to find something else to do if it bothers you.
Do you play LoL?
I personally don’t trash talk, but if that is what they want to do, then okie dokie, go for it.
> You church ladies might want to find something else to do if it bothers you.
I would like 343 to support AGL in replacement of MLG, however, at this rate it will look bad for 343 and they will not support it, “Church Lady” .

And this my friends is one of the reasons why E-Sports will never be as big as other sports, because there is a lack of Sportsmanship and a general acceptance of “Well if you don’t like it, too bad because it’s part of the game”.
No.
This type of behaviour leads to the racist, hate speech and attacking on other players so prevalent on Xbox LIVE and other communities. The attitude of “Well it’s part of the game, what are you going to do?” only makes it worse. It needs to stop and there needs to be sportsmanship and civility between players if they ever want to be recognized as some sort of serious sport or entertainment.
And that goes double for players outside of e-sports. You want to talk trash to your friends in private, go ahead. But when you’re representing a professional league, e-athletes, and a company, you behave yourselves.
I’m glad Riot games are banning players for being rude and attacking others.

that my friend. is the most uneducated comment i have ever heard. ever.
to say esports “athletes” or gamers or whatever you want to call them actually talk more trash or harsher trash than european football, american football, basketball, baseball, and hockey players tells me sir… you have never EVER played sports EVER. period.
trash talking and racial, homophobic and another bigotry has ALWAYS and will ALWAYS be used to get under opponents skin to gain an advantage. its the way it works. if you can break someone down mentally, you will have a massive advantage and a likelyhood of victory.
but its ok. live in your “cant we all just get a long” and “winning doenst count, its how you play” world. and ill live in my trash talking, dog-eat-dog world and understand that its a part of the game and a part of natural competition.

Just stop… These players majority of them respect each other and go out and party with each other during events afterwards. Don’t talk like you think you know everything. These players trash talk because the little cut and jabs, throw someone off their game. (missing an important shot or play). Of course I’ll be on of those people that will yet again say it. It’s part of the game, it’s part of the event. These players trash talk their own team… Does that mean that these players hate each other with a passion? No… This has always been a part of e-sports and always will. Same things happen in real sports, have you never heard a ref mic slipup? Clearly not. Quick pulling the racist -Yoink- card.
MLG used to allow some trash talking in its early days, didn’t it? I know now they have referees but I don’t know if that was always the case. AGL is still pretty small so expect trash talking to be allowed for the time being. However, if AGL gets more popular over the year we may see a stop to the trash talk to appease a broader audience.
AGL is pretty legit from what I’ve seen. I think if the Pros show up you can bet it’s going to be good.
I think as long the s it doesnt get too mean and personal that it’s ok. For alot of players it’s a tactic but I usually don’t talk unless I do something cool. That and mostly theres no time because of call outs.
You should have seen Halo 2 back in the day for MLG there was some good trash talking. I believe Vegetto pulled out a roll of toilet paper and told T2 to something something because he just got -Yoink- on. It was really funny but a little over the line at the moment and it really pisssed off T2. I used to use Walshys “Where’s your face?!” during the H2 era.
There is always trash talking at events. Look up some of shockwave old vids from halo 2 at MLG events. There is trash talking in almost any competition. Kevin Garnnet got Carmello so mad he was waiting for him at the bus after a NBA game a little while ago. He told him his wife tasted like honey nut cheerios. I dont know why all you guy are being so sensitive about it.

It’s been that way since day one in all FPS games. Trash talking is part of the game as the point of it is to raddle you opponents. ← This is the very same reason T-Bagging started.
If your opponent gets upset and frustrated, they don’t play as well.
I have run and been in many tournaments, what you don’t see after the fact is they generally go hang out with one another. Granted some honestly hate one another from time to time, but that’s no different then life.
If you can dish it out, you can also take it, it’s all fun and games. Some just haven’t learned the “FILTER” button on their language. lol

Way to enforce the stereotypes.
There is a clear difference between players trash talking other players on the field in the heat of the moment where they can’t be heard, recorded or seen doing so, and doing so where they can.
E-Sports has the players sitting down, on camera, where their voices are being recorded. It is in bad sportsmanship to have these players trash talk each other and that is one of the reasons why E-Sports will never be big or respectful. You just played right into that as well.
There is absolutely zero excuse for hate speech, homophobic slurs, racial insults or bigotry and any referee will call you on that and punish you.
So live in whatever world you want but it’s clearly not the real world.

No. I will not stop, I will never stop. I will talk and express my opinion however I want and you will not stop me.
It’s not the point of “they’re good friends, or they respect each other”. It’s the point that if you or anyone wants E-Sports to be respectful, they need to show good sportsmanship and not trash talk each other.
You think Hockey Players get interviewed after the game and trash talk the other team? No they don’t.
What I’m saying is this kind of behaviour on e-sports is unacceptable and it leads to bigger and worse problems. It also enforces the current online behaviour which is why party chat is the best thing ever invented on Xbox LIVE. SO I DON’T HAVE TO HEAR YOU.
