Who watched? And what did you think?
I’m new to competitve halo so I was learning all the teams (I know most of the players though) and I had so much fun watching. My favorite match was the extraction station 9 game. Warriors vs. Status Quo warriors are down 4-1 they get 4 CONSECUTIVE EXTRACTS. The chat was going wild, the commentators were going wild, man.

I’ve been with Halo since the very beginning and that was my first time watching real competitive gameplay. I must say, I’ve been missing out on a lot since it got so intense at the end. I kind of regret not tuning in before during the times Halo was in the MLG circuits.

That is EXACTLY how I felt
Game 10 here was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. These were the two of the best lineups in Halo’s history. I was always a fan of Str8 and hated TD, but this was an excellent series even though Str8 lost.
I watched, loved it, but no Orge 2 or 1 in tourney, something just missing.
Dat Overkill with the Flag with No Cap made my head go “WutTehHell”
I miss old school underground pre-“mlg” Halo tournies. Those were the best by far
I don’t mean to go on but while I’m here…my thoughts on Halo 4 tournies.
Overall I would watch again, thoroughly enjoyed it and I’ll certainly tune in next time. I’m really getting into the LAN to pro tournament progression right in front of us. AGL is really coming a long way but some polish is needed all around.
The stream quality, audio quality, commentating and Astro listen in are all very solid where I just think they need some live blogging or real time statistics as part of the feed, always on basically. Spectators also need somewhere to go to see all the scores, settings, playlist for a match up etc. The AGL website would do well to support this in real time and with multiple browser tabs, devices or monitors this could easily double their viewing within the same audience.
Producing that sort of content depth and polishing up the live stream online editing, graphics, segues and perhaps bringing some quick interviews pre/post game to the streams would all be positives. I give them plenty of kudos and see them making leaps and bounds with each event, great work and thanks to the sponsors too.
Perhaps they could do some quick post game chat/Q&A with the coaches/players too, maybe bring in a losing bracket coach/player for some inside comments during a finals game etc?
Other TV-style features I’d recommend are instant replay for the live stream or a post game highlights reel/video post game/series would do well too. You could even provide some of these tight interviews or replays during the parts in between games or matches setting up. You could also do team Q&A on the AGL website prior/post the events. Further you could even have teams available at certain times to answer questions in a live chat or forums post/reply. Fans love interacting with the pros, web has many advantages over traditional TV based sports, use them.
I’d also like to see more complexity in the streams, use Twitch or AGL website to provide an interactive stream system e.g. 4 players from the same team in a quad feed box and you can simply click to then view one stream full screen at a time. You could also provide the “event directors” feed so they do the editing. You could also provide a dual compare, one stream from read and one stream from blue. After all we have a guerrilla style stream system that is interactive and web based, this should be exploited for its feature advantages.
These are just some ideas anyhow, more spectator features than just the commentators or gameplay alone. You have this big event and should extract as much content from it as possible. Rather than a one weekend show you could literally turn it into weeks worth of content such as Q&A web articles, photo galleries, Video On Demand etc. After all it’s all about butts in seats and if you can get the existing audience to view twitch and the AGL website in the same browser session you’ve doubled your advertising streams and views, sponsors like that sort of thing and fans love the added features. When you expand with content over say two weeks, one prior the event and one after the event, as I describe you also create a sustain marketing and content schedule that both fans and sponsors both enjoy the benefits of.
I watched a little bit here and their. I stopped watching the few times Adrift was played. CTF can be good on it but it still doesn’t make me like or hate the map any more or less.
Those games with warrios ans status quo were epic in the best of 9.
Wait so did warriors win the tournament?
I watched the sunday stream almost for like 6 hours.
it was pretty intense, sadly i didnt get a chance to watch the final, i watched it on youtube
i can’t watch these due to my data limits are low and need to save it but i will check out some matches when i’m at my buds place for sure.Sounds like some great matches

Nah, they came in second. Sadly the Pulse ambush beat em
I watched bits of it throughout the weekend. I thought that having some of the well known older pros (Walshy, Gandhi & Ghostyame) commentate the event was a real plus. With MLG unable to pick up Halo the competitive was in an odd place as to where do we go for competitive events, but with AGL picking up Halo 4 and the improvements that they’ve made so far competitive Halo may have a new home. Its still weird watching because there are so many new players to I’m unable to really identify anyone, but having those guys commentating from the both was a plus and a step in the right direction.
One issue though was the fact that the tournament ended so late. I live on the east coast and the championship match didn’t end until around 12:30 am Monday morning. This affects the players more than anything who may have had early flights Monday morning and such. You’d see much better scheduling at an MLG event.

Agree with all of this, halo isn’t good enough for MLG so AGL is here to help, and they are. The time thing, it’s 12:00 on a Sunday I want to watch the finals but I need rest for the morning, perhaps start tourney on Thursday so it ends Saturday if they really can’t get it done earlier.
