AGL $20,000 tournament!

From The Halo Council:

Arena Gaming League just announced details for their upcoming tournament called AGL Wired. The format is a 4v4 online pool play, no brackets or ladders. A total of 448 teams can participate with a 5 tier payout system. The cost to participate is $50 per person or $200 per team. If all team passes are sold out, the event will generate a total of $89,600. A single cash prize of $20,000 will be awarded for the top placing team in the event that all team passes are sold. There are no other cash prizes, however if 448 teams attend, the top 16 participating teams will be fully sponsored to attend. This includes airfare and hotel costs. Some pro players are confirmed to host the tournament and rumor has it that Ghandi occupy the casting booth once more.

Participation:
Signups: May 14 – June 4
Online Tournament: June 9 – July 13
Playoff: July 14th – July 31st

Details:
1st Place Prize: $20,000
Full Sponsorhip: Top 16 Teams (airfare + hotel)
Team Allowance: 448
Format: Online Pool Play
Cost: $50/person or $200/Team
Restrictions: Must be 14 or older to participate LAN

Finding Matches:
Upon sign up, you will choose 3 days your team is available to play. In those 3 days, you will also enter 3 time slots that your team is available to play. Every Sunday during the regular season, you will create your schedule for the coming week. The higher seed for a match will be able to see the lower seeded teams schedule and pick what time the higher seeded team would like to play. Teams that are the lower seed will then be able to see what time their scheduled match is. Notifications for matches will be sent to the users involved and your teams schedule will be viewable on the AGL website.

5 Payout Tier Structure:
Tier 1: 96 Teams – $10K Payout
Tier 2: 192 Teams – $10K Payout (top 8 fully sponsored to AGL Orange County)
Tier 3: 356 Teams – $10K Payout (top 12 teams fully sponsored)
Tier 4: 384 Teams – $20K Payout (12 teams fully sponsored)
Tier 5: 448 Teams – $20K Payout (16 teams fully sponsored)

American Conference:
NORTH: Columbus, Indianapolis, Detroit, Louisville
EAST: New York, Philidelphia, Baltimore, Toronto
SOUTH: Miami, New Orleans, Tuscaloosa, Dallas
WEST: Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, Portland

National Conference:
NORTH: Chicago, Milwaukee, Minnesota, St Louis
EAST: Pittsburgh, Boston, Charlotte, Richmond
SOUTH: Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, Nashville
WEST: San Francisco, Vancouver, Denver, Phoenix

Online Complaints/Issues:
If players get host booted to black screen, the match is officially postponed and restarted. The previous score will rollover to the new match and all players will continue the game. In the event that you feel “cheating” has taken place, you can officially “wave” the match. Each team has 4 ‘waves’ to use for the course of the tournament. Referees will be in place to review any violations. If you are reported for 4 violations, you are banned from the tournament.

This tournament is taking place after AGL Orange County. So if teams are flown out to OC again, this is a different event. Just to avoid confusion.

Regular season and playoffs:
The tournament will contain a regular season and a playoff bracket. Teams will play 3 games a week during the regular season. Then, the teams that finish 1st in their city (depending on win to loss ratio) will move on to the playoff bracket.
Registration for next league: August 1
Finals: August 24 – 25th

Points:
Points will be acquired for participating in AGL Wired. Points won’t be as much as a live event but points will still be acquired for all players.

International bracket:
If there is a big enough demand for AGL tournaments to open in Europe, Asia and Australia, we will gladly open it up to these regions.

I’m definitely going to do my best to represent Boston!

So it’s rumored a few “Pro Players” are hosting?

So 89000 is the pool and their only giving 20000 for the winners huh

So they get 69000 for hosting? Pffft if that’s the case I’ll host next years at my backyard and quit my job lol

No. Watch the stream and you’ll see that they’re going to use the collected entrance fees to make a massive pot to use in a championship type of tournament. So basically they’re hoping to reach $100,000-$500,000 to attract a LOT of players for a kick -Yoink- tournament!

here’s a link to the video (I put a time stamp on it at the start of the announcement)…

Even though I’m not a overly competitive Halo player, this is still very good to see.

Good for the players that cares about it, but an Online tournament on a game with no Dedicated Servers is just pure BS.

Default settings?

Oh no. This is impossible. People on these forums told me that, “Halo 4 is dead” and that “Halo 4 is in no way competitive.”

> Default settings?

Most likely not.

It will be similar to Team Throwdown’s settings, if not the same.

Team Throwdown settings or maybe an AGL variation.

In response to connection concerns, weigh up the pros and cons…

Bummer, I most likely would have thrown down 50$ to play had it been the game I play (and most others).

Oh well, maybe next time.

Is Team Throwdown too mentally challenging for you?

I like Throwdown!

OT: I think a tournament open to the public, free but without the grind to win esque infinity challenge feeling, would be cool.

I need someone to pay for me so we can take T.O

I would assume they’ll have a custom map setting for the players to use. Looks great can’t wait to watch some matches!

Might wanna edit that. That’ll be seen as a call-out or an attack, which is against the rules.

OT: Makes me wish I could join, but I can’t. Besides, my internets too horrible to do anything decent anyway.

It’s still great to see.

With CSR coming in April, can’t wait to compete in this tourney

Amazing
Too bad I cant join but Im glad to see some movements being done from the competitive community.

how do you sign up???
