I have lots of free time tonight so I was thinking. I want there to be Forerunner and Flood factions which have slightly different playstyles and strengths than the covenant, humans, or banished. Personally I think the build system is purposefully constricting in Halo Wars and would like more freedom. I am not experienced but it seems to me that Halo Wars is not the kinda game that is aggressive with spam or harassment 5 mins into the game, looks more like resource collection, upgrading, and bulk army building for a long time. I want some factions to change that up a bit.
Because these 2 armies are a bit different it may be more tricky to balance, but I think it would add more skill and unique strategies to the game when appropriately balanced.
Forerunner; basically a Halo installation faction Specialty: Defensive spam or Defensive bulk
UNITS
hero: some monitor; abilities: upgradable beam - teleport - grabby ability - scout unit: sentinel - tank unit: sentinel enforcer - basic unit: sentinel group - tower unit: mini Line installation*tower unit is unique to Forerunner faction; function: resource gathering, defensive tower, reactor - heal unit: constructorhealer (basically an engineer) - power soldier unit: promethean or forerunner soldier - upgrades: sentinel shields, enforcer mortars, tower beams, tower guards, soldier snipers
> Forerunners can spam sentinels easily but require upgrading later game as the enemy strengthens. Maybe upgrading can be done by building Line tower installations, which act as reactors and towers, and can be built anywhere on the map. This way you can choose defensive towers / safe reactors / less map control; or more aggressive towers / riskier reactors / more map control. I am not sure about this reactor idea but it’s just something different. Maybe there can be some other function for line tower installations.
>
> Forerunners start with 2 units: the scout sentinel and 1 constructor builder unit, who can build line tower installations anywhere within it’s limited vision range
The Flood; basically a Gravemind level infection, similar in function and appearance to that of the insectoid race in Starcraft that i forget the name of Specialty: Aggressive horde spam
UNITS
hero: some Gravemind (similar to Cutter, has world abilities but not a physical presence); abilities: tentacle attack: emerges from ground to damage or stun enemies - logic plague - enemy units betray and fight among themselves - resurrection - resurrects fallen flood forms or ally humanoid units
scout: some engineer-like floating Flood mass, slow but it flies - tank unit: Pure form - basic unit: Infection forms - bomb unit: Carrier forms - good vs infantry or securing narrow paths - power soldier unit: Combat forms - vehicle-ish lancer unit: **Flood ranged form (**like the cobra tank maybe) - upgrades: scout gaining base production, shielded combat forms, rocket-launcher combat forms, larger carrier forms, armored range forms, carrier mine defense - Bases: some bulbous-looking pulsating bulbs; scouts upgraded to build these bases kind of anywhere on map (but not too close to enemy structures or natural boundaries)
> The Flood are naturally very much like the insects in Starcraft in many ways. Main focus is spam, dividing enemy armies (instead of one huge army vs the other all the time), and overwhelming the enemy with weaker units fast, slowly incorporating stronger units into that spam if the enemy survives. One power of the Flood is their “tainted land” passive ability, which spreads from your bases and can maybe strengthen your armies as well as changing the look of the map as you gain map control. Early game you can expand to take advantage of forward tainted lands (forward bases) and your number advantage of weaker units, or play defensive with that land buff and instead go towards sooner tougher units
At least do a basic forum search before posting a new thread.
Your ideas are not new or unique and your thread topic is done to death as recently as 2 weeks ago.
its nice that you are excited about halo wars and I’m with you in that I also desire flood and forerunner factions but come on. At least put a little effort and forum etiquette.
Well if you want your ideas to e discussed in good faith by a community it pays to at least do a cursory search of the topic.
if you had, you would have found over 20 flood and forerunner faction idea threads with various iterations of the ideas you have presented. Since you didn’t put that effort in why would anyone here put in effort to engage your ideas?
You don’t have to listen to be but remember the golden rule. “Do unto others as you woul have done unto you.” If you do not put in the effort to engage the community, the community will not put in the effort to engage you.
? Imo the community isn’t a stagnant group of people that must be appeased and treated with respect somehow lol
I want normal people to log in and just randomly post stuff
I don’t care if peeps don’t discuss my topic, I’ve already nearly forgotten it myself, I just post stuff cuz I want instead of writing it down somewhere
If I didn’t post it in some official discussion topic lol o well
It never ends. It is a void. A black hole. An eternal darkness much akin to a tunnel with no light awaiting you on the other side. Just more tunnel. Just more Flood faction threads. Just more pain.
I’m normally a rather sane person, but the unceasing Flood faction threads have me looping a noose around my neck.

Frankly, posting previously discussed topics is annoying to me too.
But whining and saying he put no effort in is just you being upset, he obviously put effort into posting this.
Not to mention the reason no-one talks is because the halo wars 2 forum is essentially dead nowadays. Same with its’ reddit.
Happy holidays, and get ready for the beta friends.
I think having a Created faction would be great to add Prometheans and sentinels along with more human robotics and A.I. Your sentinel idea sounds good since they are on the Ark.
THE FLOOD/THE ZERG
The Starcraft infector type is the The Zerg! lol.
But the Flood would be hard to balance since they can commander anything. im thinking early game hit and run would be the best because most units should be glass cannons. late game more pure forms would appear bulking your forces for endgame pushes.

He isn’t trying to do bad by the community. he just thought of some ideas and wanted to share. its also good that you mentioned repetitive post but, it should show that a lot of people are interested in this topic.
