Again, I Don't Want Ranked Challenges

After being forced to complete 4 Ranked Matches for a Challenge and suffering through a long Oddball and and Stronghold Match where teammates are screeching and swearing at the team and I still have two more matches to go, I want to say again that I do NOT want to be forced to play Ranked.

It’s very simple: I don’t want to be in Ranked and the people who are playing Ranked sure as hell don’t want me in it.

Being someone who never plays Ranked and wants to do Challenges, I had to deal with an Oddball Match of people questioning me why I’m using the Commando and Assault Rifle and being sweared at for it because I just want to complete my Assault Rifle and Commando Challenges while being forced to do Ranked.

I don’t care about ranking up. I’m here just to complete my Challenges cause, as hard as it may be for some people to believe, I do enjoy playing Halo Infinite where I have some fun completing the Weekly Challenges. The gameplay is nice where before and after I work I just want to sit back and relax and play while having something to accomplish what with Infinite having nothing else to really progress and work to at the moment. I like mixing it up with Tactical Slayer, Fiesta, BTB, and so on.

But give me a Cumulative Score or Complete Ranked in Ranked, and I dread what’s to come. And I suspect that a bunch of Rankers dread the idea of getting dropped into a game with someone like me.

And with the swearing sweatfeast that Ranked is, I’m on the verge of just turning the volume down all the way and just sit in a corner until the game’s over. That’s what being forced into Ranked does.

Stop playing ranked then. Ignore the challenges like that guy walking down the hallway was ignoring Saul Goodman. Just don’t care about the challenges, or even the whole game if you have to.

That’s the usual response that tends to ignore one large thing.

The Weekly reward is only earned through playing the challenges.

If the player does not want to do ranked but does want the weekly reward, and 343 puts in ranked challenges that player cannot simply ignore the challenges.

This unintentionally ruins the expereince for both ranked players and non ranked players. Because ranked games are going to get an influx of players who don’t care about winning or performance, rather just getting that round over with.

Most ranked challenges are just play x amount of games of ranked. Players tend to swap the win a game of ranked for until they get something like that.

I mean for season 2 I’d say if you don’t like FFA, well your not gonna like season 2. But if you want to unlock stuff my best bet is you better get used to Free For All

Then screw challenges. Games are made to be fun, not to grind. Cosmetics should be fun to earn. It’s about the journey, not the destination. If the journey isn’t fun in a video game, don’t play it. Even if you want to confine yourself to Halo franchise, you have better options than this unfun game.

Halo infinite infinite is about grinding for cosmetics though, the issue is the challenge system is broken. It’s not designed around fun like previous games. It’s designed around pushing g players to certain playlist to create population spikes, with a reward for them.

The whole point of the weekly reward is to give players a reward they can grind for. Grinding for something is fun, how er if it purposely puts you in a gamemode you don’t desire and majority of casual gamers don’t desire it. Than it’s broken.

But Halo Infinite much like Halo 4 and Halo 5 wasn’t designed with casual players in mind, these games have been all about promoting E sports. That’s why we have been seeing some pretty odd map design.

343 has shifted Halo away from couch co Op style to eSports competitive so the entire game is built centered around that.

I don’t mind challenges and the weekly s sometimes it’s fun to grind for them. I personally don’t want to do ranked. And if the weekly reward is something worth going for than yes it sucks, I just wish if I could swap it out it would give me a choice of three challenges not a random one and if I swap a ranked swap it for a non ranked challenge

I stopped to care about the weakly rewards. Im not grinding anymore, not working on challenges. Just playing the gamemodes that i want and when i want to play.
Im not playing because i have to achive any of the challenges.
Its really much more relaxing now.

Then why don’t they fix it?

“You don’t want to be like this. This is disgusting. This is awful in every way. If I could kill it, I would. But I legally can’t. But I’ve considered it.” - Markiplier

They haven’t fixed it because its working as 343 intended it to work.
To push purchases.

No one but 343 wanted it to stray away from couch co op. But they are in control of it and it sucks.

They listen to what pro players want over everyone else because that’s their new bread and butter.

They don’t care if we want lobbies post and pre game where we can talk s**t to each other, where we can party up with our existing randoms team or against the opposing team we just played.

Where we can mute players, split screen man sit screen.

If they were so damn focused on eSports pro competitive they could accomplish sommuch

Player’s were actually using mikes?

They seem to do so in Ranked and, funnily enough, they’re usually complaining about people not having comms, lol. Social I rarely see it save for when there’s a couple random guys in BTB who do.

The thing is that I like doing the Challenges. I do enjoy Infinite and I just like having something to accomplish every week where I can just sit down and chill an hour before or after work and just play with the mixture of Fiesta, Tactical, BTB, etc.

I don’t even do the Weeklies for the Rewards cause even you can’t expect me to be excited to get the same Emblem for the dozenth. I, surprise surprise, just like having fun completing them while playing the game for the sake of having fun.

So obviously I hate it whenever I get forced into the competitive sweatfest that is Ranked where everyone has to be a swearing tryhard. Whenever I get that single Ranked Challenge (such as Cumulative Scoring of 5000 or 7500), I use one of my 40 Challenge Swaps to just swap it out. Getting the Complete 4 Ranked Games Challenge and me having not been in Ranked in forever, I decided to just give it a shot, assuming I could tolerate it, and it ended up reawakening my extreme dislike for Ranked and why I’d love it if I never had to do Ranked ever again.

Cause there are probably people out there who are doing Challenges whether for fun like me or because they are concerned about collecting the Rewards every time even if it is just the same emblem over and over again and may not have the Swaps or luck that I have to be able to keep out of Ranked.

sollution! have the challenges be do-able on both ranked and social so it doesn’t limit players to one or the other

People afraid of ranked gameplay don’t deserve rewards

I don’t complete the Challenges to get the same emblem over and over again. I just complete them for the fun of it.

how is it fun???

Then don’t do them, simple as that…

One of the points of challenges is to push people a little bit of their conform zones and into things they’d normally not be interested for. If you’re not willing to “challenge yourself”, then it just means that weakly challenge isn’t meant for you. It’ll eventually pop back up in the future for you to try again.

Then there are challenge swaps, which may remove any unwanted challenge you have. I do believe it can give you social challenges last I checked for rank challenges you’re not willing to do.

I just like playing the game and the Weekly Challenges give me incentive to play it. I log in during my weekdays, play and complete the Weeklies, and then I’m usually done by the time the weekend hits and I play other games like Deep Rock Galactic or Elden Ring. Keeps Infinite enjoyable and keeps me from burning out on it which is why I’m still playing it six months later and looking forward to the start of Season 2.

I usually don’t and I have plenty of Challenge Swaps (40) to the point where I’ll probably never have to do Ranked Challenges depending on if Swaps as rewards have decreased that much during the next season or not as, usually, I only use one to two Swaps at most and only if Ranked Challenges appear. Generally I tend to use 0 Swaps if they don’t.

But deciding to give Ranked a try this time, I find it to be rather detrimental to the game experience to both Ranked and Social players. People who play Ranked - I suspect - have low interest in completing Challenges, especially when Challenges heavily favor Social games (what with Team Slayer, Fiesta, Tactical, BTB Games/Wins/Cumulative Scoring/etc being all piled together against Ranked) and even those that don’t (such as weapon kills) I find dubious of Ranked players wanting to pursue them, especially if they’re weapons (such as the Pulse Carbine) that aren’t weapons embraced by the meta (at least not to kill, as I’m aware the Pulse Carbine has a place in stripping shields).

The thing with Ranked is you want to win and rank up. Social you just play for fun - or at least I do. Winning or losing doesn’t impact anything in Social and I don’t play to win. So to force a player like me into Ranked I think is a lose-lose situation. I’m not playing to win, I’m just here to do the Challenges, and that’ll include trying to do other Challenges while I’m doing it like getting AR kills which - as I just experienced - is something that just earns me the scorn of teammates who will get very vocal about it with one of their comments being that it was 3v4 because I wasn’t adhering to the meta.

And, ya know, I do feel bad about it a bit when I see that I’m dragging the team down. I don’t play to win but I also don’t want to bring the team down - especially when there’s consequences such as their ranking. And as someone who plays more casually, that kind of attitude and playstyle I feel is a detriment to those who usually play Ranked and, this far since the game’s release, I think the line has been made pretty clear that those who are playing Ranked are doing so to play competitively.

And, again, I’ve had plenty of instances within the span of my 4 games where those who play competitively really don’t like me on their team. So considering how miserable it is for the parties involved and how very few Ranked Challenges there are to begin with, its my opinion that they should just be removed entirely.

Idk man, The last time I had ranked challenges I would swap 4 times and it kept giving me ranked. Hopefully they changed that. Ranked isn’t my thing it’s not even out of my comfort zone I just find it not fun at all.

Agreed, no more ranked playlist challenges. Challenge swaps would work, but they’re pay walled after you’ve reached level 100 and I’m not going to pay for them. If they made challenge swaps earnable after reaching the level cap this wouldn’t be an issue. If they even work correctly and don’t give you the same challenge repeatedly.

Agreed, the challenge is there for everyone. They’re not gonna take it out because y’all suck at the game. All I’ve played is ranked and scrims with my team. That one challenge is the only challenge we have for ranked. Y’all got plenty of challenges in social bruh lol
