After Watching The Pros Play The Beta

Have I played? You ask. No. I did not get to play the Beta early. However because of my strong desire to play. I watched HOURS of Walshy and Snip3down and any other random Twitch guy I could find.

Now for why I’m making this post. So like many of you. I started playing Halo the day it came out for Xbox. I have had my ups and downs with the game and it’s evolutionary progressions.

I have read a lot of forum posts and Game outlets write articles and give there opinions. I personally am excited about what I’m seeing in Halo 5. 343 really seems to be striking a balance. A good balance.
There are things that I read.

The ones that stand out are the complaints about how, it doesn’t “feel” like Halo.
I think to myself. The same people will say COD is too much like the one before it and they game play has become stagnated. Which I agree. This is also what happened to Halo 3. It just simply died out. I remember at a local LAN Game Shop, the players there really started playing MW2 and dropped Halo 3. So things have to change, evolve and become more dynamic. So to those crying about change need to remember this is a game and you’re either going to play it and be good or you’re not. That’s all there is to it. After watching players with real skill play. I have to say they seemed to play effortlessly and there decisions were smart and they seemed to take to new dynamics well.

The other complaint I see is ADS. This just gets to me SO much. And ties to the whole “feel” thing. I say WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE! Really. I just want the gun play to be good and balanced. Which 343 has clearly stated is their goals and seem to be doing a good job and without a doubt on the right track. They’re hiring Pros to do the consulting work for crying out load. This is a dream come true. To add to this Halo has ALWAYS had Custom Games. So to those crying about the AR and SMG, get over it. 343 has to incorporate all the weapons and make them ALL effective. You have to know there will be HCS Playlist. So if you WANNA BE a Pro there will be a place for your little heart to go to. With BR start, no radar and the works. After watching Pros play and leave feedback and answer questions. Not a single one said anything negative about ADS. Probably because they’re good and know it doesn’t make a difference.

After watching the Pros play, I didn’t hear a one complaint about the dreaded Sprint. It also didn’t make an impact at all. I hardly seen anyone using Sprint. I think because it is so balanced. Again 343 is doing well and makes Halo 5 really exciting. In fact, I watched Walshy take note of how Sprint impacted his ability to regen health and began to adapt and play more strategically. If anything Sprint appeared to be more of a punishment for making a bad choice rather than a crutch.

ALL that being said. There is of course my list of negatives. Very small list. The ONE thing that I really don’t see a positive change is the Clamber ability. I think Crouch jumping is just flat out a better feature and provides the most to the “FEEL” of Halo thing. I believe that too much has to change and be compromised. Such as movement and the maps.

Nothing makes me more qualified to give an opinion than the next Halo fan. I just want to get my little two cents in because I want to be in the Arena and contribute. I just feel that sometimes fans will post things and are just misguided and misinformed. Or they are not taking the time to research a little bit. Or come from a higher perspective and consider the bigger picture.

Anyways, GO 343!!!

What difference does it make? Tightening the spread on both autos and precision weapons is utterly game-altering. With precisions, it makes it much easier for the person who saw you first to win the battle. With autos, mixed with the ridiculous idea of a headshot bonus, it allows them to have much more range than they should, and turns auto vs auto engagements into random “who’s spread will give who a headshot first” battles.

But thanks for acting like only wannabe pros want BRs to be more powerful than autos (WHICH THEY SHOULD BE. Utility > CQC).

Explain to me how sprint is balanced. It’s not a punishment for a bad decision; you can thrust into cover and sprint back to your team to regroup. It still makes maps bigger than they need to be, so now we’re stuck with bloated maps that you can’t properly traverse because sprint has more negative results and can’t be used in every situation. Sprint can only be balanced to the point where it becomes utterly useless to use, so why include it? If you bump the base speed up a bit (not too much, maybe to 120%) and scale the maps to fit around the base speed, this wouldn’t be an issue. I’m not sure why everybody is parading around the “fact” that sprint is “BALANCED NOW!” when in reality there’s no logical reason to keep it when other things can accomplish what sprint does with none or less of the negative effects. What’s the point of trying to work it in to Halo at this point?

Also, the fact that we’re talking about pros doesn’t matter much, to be honest. Look what they said about Halo 4.
