I noticed that it reminds me of an extension to Spartan Ops with its looks and feels. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. I happen to have enjoyed Spartan Ops. Just an observation.
What kind of vibes did you get from the campaign footage, assuming you took a peep?
Honestly I got a halo 2 and 3 vibe. First mission reminded me of sierra 117 but more action packed.
Idk, I noticed the story is kinda hollywood style over the top for some reason.
Very different compared to the previous games.
Honestly watching it I got a very heavy feeling od hyper agile halo 2 and halo 2 is my favorite! So now even more excited after watching the first 2 missions. I do want level 3 and 8 to be a surprise.
Might wanna pit spoiler in the title btw. Some people could see this as spoilers.
My only problem with the gameplay I’ve seen so far is that No one is utilizing the squad commands effectively if at all… Its really frustrating to see hundreds of thing these players could be doing to make the gameplay more interesting and them not doing any of it… Even RUL barely uses them. But I guess this is mostly just me wanting to play the game really bad…

I feel like if you gave them all power weapons they’d be more effective.

Not only that but there has been many times where there was a big engagement with vehicles and turrets all over. Almost everyone’s solution to that is grab that biggest vehicle and go. Know one ever places there squad mate strategically. Post 2 guys on turrets that way while you are and there other guy are pushing forward the other 2 continually rain death on the enemy. Or at least tell them to get into vehicles too. There has been way to many times that I’ve seen the player in a vehicle and at least 2 of his squad mates just sprinting after him…
And guys heal your mates… If your whole squad is killed while you blammed off don’t say, “what the hell?! Why isn’t my team helping me” when death startes raining down on you.

THIS!!! In a lot of the videos we’ve seen only Greenskull was the one that used it the most. But, because all of the others didn’t use this feature the A.I. sucks. No brahhh… Maybe they suck at giving orders! If you don’t give orders they will just keep up with you. That’s why we’ve seen one Spartan on a mongoose and another in a warthog all alone.
I haven’t seen anyone use squad commands when the AI is driving the warthog. Would make it heaps easier, but they just go “The AI suck at driving,” and get out.

For me its what I wanted Spartan Ops to be.

Well the AI isn’t any thing special. Something that comes to minds is. OH a plasma grenade! I’ll crouch down… I mean is not like I have a thruster pack or anything… Or, Hey look sleeping grunts! I’ll run right into them while the player tries to silently kill them…

OR you can place them out of the way with a command, stealth kill sleeping grunts and then have them form up again.

Seriously. RUL dude was spazzing out at the hunters, but it seemed to me that it was nothing circlestrafing with squad commands couldn’t make short work of.

Well it could be because almost everyone is used to playing campaign solo or with friends. No other Halo utilizes a command system for friendly AI’s, and even though they’ve mention it many players are probably not used to it.
Don’t get me wrong it really looks like a good system to use. I mean I played Republic Commando and I though it was a blast commanding my fellow clones. Unfortunetely I think I would be in the same boat with the others who don’t use it merely because I am used to wiping off an entire armanda on my own. I know its their, but I may tend to forget to fully utilize it.
The main writer for Spartan Ops is the main writer for Halo 5. That probably has something to do with it.
I liked spartan ops… i can see what you mean, though i think it’s the inclusion of the infinity crew that makes it feel that way-- we see Laskey giving orders on a screen, Palmer throwing orders from the pilot seat of a pelican, etc. I liked the feel of SPOPS, so i’m okay if it takes that dimension, and okay if its totally opposite and i’m just reading into 2-minute trailers.
