After the botched release, I said this would be a good game in 10-12 months. I was wrong

I revise my estimate to 20-24 months.

Only two internally-made forge maps in year 1? That’s it? Of all the slaps in the face, this one hit me the hardest.

Do better… At this rate I will be able to ride the like $30 I have given to the makers of this game (early on and purely on initial nostalgia, the privilege to play on PC, and cautious optimism) for another year before I open my wallet again

by the time Infinite gets good Splitgate 2 will come out and everybody had already moved on.

The end of season 3 as currently planned (and we should all know by now the likely hood of that happening by now) will be pretty dern close to 20 months. I don’t know about you, but when I look at the road map I don’t think “OK, once all this stuff comes the game will finally be good.” No, I look at the road map and think “Are Joe, Sketch, and this new Sean what’s-his-face the only employees left at 343 or something??”

Come on, cut yourself some slack. At the first anniversary, Halo 5 had, what? 5 or 6 big, substantive updates to the multiplayer? It would’ve been reasonable to figure something similar would happen here for Infinite, especially considering it’s a “live service” game.

Personally I think a lot about canon/campaign content.

When I heard “ten year platform the franchise,” I assumed that they meant there would be a trade-off where we would get new content more often, but would be stuck with similar graphics and gameplay for a while. I figured hey, I don’t mind a similar game for a while if we’re getting a new campaign expansion each year (like ODST.)

Now it feels like we aren’t getting any more campaign stuff until winter 2023 at the latest, much more likely winter 2024, at which point campaign players would rather have just gotten a whole new game.

They can put as much content in the game as they want. But if they don’t admit to all the issues with the moment-to-moment gameplay and do something about that first Halo Infinite is never going to make a resurgence.

Movement is scuffed. Aiming is scuffed. Network stability is scuffed. Weapon balance is scuffed. Vehicles are scuffed. Customs and theater are scuffed. Progression is scuffed. Matchmaking is scuffed. Ranked is scuffed. Social features are scuffed.

It would be a LOT easier to swallow the slow content drip if any progress at all was being made on getting the core game into an acceptable state, but it’s not. The most progress we’ve seen made to the game has been giving us a wide variety of cosmetics with a price tag on them.

Split screen coop being cancelled and the focus on “seasonality” just proves that their motivation isn’t making the game itself better, it’s on getting new MTX out as quickly and regularly as possible.

I’m very cautious at opening my wallet for this game too currently. I think that today will be the first purchase of mine in the store when I buy one of the new HCS playoff skins. My last purchase was the Season 1 Battle Pass.

My renewed love for Halo Infinite sadly died the day they decided to remove Last Spartan Standing after nearly 4 months straight, amid a season called “Lone Wolves”

Are they even going to get internally-made forge maps in the game in 2022?

This. Technically, the forge maps arent even coming till after the 1 year anniversary of this game.

You should have gone with the safe bet and said 10 to 12 years. All we have to look forward to is Forge and more stuff in the shop. Nothing else. Maybe free low effort cosmetic events, but nothing significant like massive map packs and expansions.

The game is terrible at this point. Im a die hard fan. Been playing since day 1. But Ive had to mive on to older games I have to kill time till this game get good. Lately its been GR Breakpoint. A game that was very rocky at the start, but now, its a gamers wet dream. PVP, there. Co-Op, boom there. Wanna run a raid, get some. Cosmetics, for daaaaaaayyyys. And the best part, 85% of weapons, clothes, tactical gear, and vehicles are AAALLLLLL paid for by doing missions and getting that scratch. Want a new gun, but cost 45k credits? Do some missions and save up. Wanna look like a complete jack@$$ and kill bad guys? Buy some crazy gear. Wanna go splinter cell and sneak in and out looking like a shadow, done.

Im sorry Halo, but 343 has failed you more times than any other game out there. Maybe 343 should ask Ubisoft how to fix a game, because they had a very rouch start with Breakpoint. But now, its one of my most favorite open world shooters now. The world has tons of interactions, randomness, and just about anything to keep you engaged for hours on end. 343 you wanted to go the open world route, but you deffinately were not ready for it. Need to sit down and take notes from the pros who’ve been making open world games for the last 15+ years, because Infinite isnt it man… Even their PvP is on point. Figure it out, please.

I haven’t played the game in five weeks, maybe six

A. No meaningful changes
B. No new content
C. Weekly challenge rewards have been bad

I have left a thumbs down and recommend that people not play the game on steam.

I am still banned from the supremely poorly moderated Halo official discord, ForgeHub was dead and their prominent members were bashing the game and recommending people not play it…so I left. I have joined a discord community (One Shot on my X) that looks like it’s populated by a bunch of adults making the best of a bad situation and who are actually interested in sharing tips and tricks.

I don’t like what is happening here, but if I am still here with the intent playing and if I am going the extra step to join a “community” then I would like for it to not be a steaming pile of garbage. I am sticking it out, no matter how painful an experience it may be.

And I want worthwhile content in the base game, not just to be purely motivated by the future prospect of funsies in customs with the boys. ESPECIALLY DURING CONTENT DROUGHT SEASON

If I am not doing it now, then I don’t see myself playing stale, boring, repetitive multiplayer with the same old maps and gametypes over and over and over once forge is released. These last few months have been a pitiful failure in that regard, and now it’s pretty much too late. Oh well.

To forge and the future!
