…a HUGE thank you to 343i, and anyone else involved with Halo 4. The game is looking absolutely gorgeous, and I’m more excited for this game than I have been for any other Halo, with the exception of MAYBE Halo 2. I’ve been a fan since the start, and this game not only looks like Halo, but from the videos I’ve seen (especially the “Making Halo 4, Part II” that was just released), it “feels” like Halo.
The awe, the mystery, the grande scale, the sense of being somewhere new and unfamiliar, the unknown element to where the story is going, or what’s going to happen (but knowing that something huge WILL happen) is a feeling I haven’t genuinely felt since Halo: Combat Evolved.
The locales shown in the video have a very “Halo” feel to them, and it finally feels like a Halo game again, which even Halo 2’s campaign didn’t in various levels. Halo 3 definitely branched off away, having more “human-like” locales, being terribly linear, and being so familiar with the franchise by that point all worked against Halo 3’s campaign for me. But with the introduction of a completely new place, new enemies, and a story that nobody really knows too much about (at least, I certainly don’t and I’m keeping it that way for as long as possible until the game is in my hands), I feel like I genuinely will be surprised around every corner, which just adds a level of excitement and thrill that has been missing for quite some time.
So to 343i and all of the people involved with the creation of this game, and the continuation of this franchise when some people thought it should be left alone to die quietly, I say: thank you so much, and keep up the great work! We all appreciate it; even the haters who don’t agree with some of the multiplayer choices and so on… they appreciate it as well, deep down. They’re just reluctant to admit it.
Cheers,
-B
