After seeing Alien Covenant. We need a Halo Movie.

As the topic speaks for itself. In my opinion Ridley Scott would be the right choice to bring Halo to the big screen. The guy has given us plenty of classics in the sci fi genre for movies. I’d love to see how Halo itself would look as well the design of the UNSC marines,John 117, the vehicles and all of the Covenant species and vehicles since he barely uses CGI or masks it very well and goes for that authentic natural feel. Plus who wouldn’t want to see his design on seeing a human or elite morph into a flood during the infection phase. It would be a huge blockbuster without a doubt. In matter of fact when I was at my parents house last week for Mother’s Day I asked my dad this exact question and he would see it on opening day and the only expose to shall he had was back when CE and Halo 2 came out and watched me or my brother play it from time to time. What’s everyone’s thought on this fellow waypointers, mods and 343 team?

Tbh my dream Halo director is James Cameron.

Let’s go for a combined James Cameron and Ridley Scott. Aliens esque scenes for the Covenant and Alien/Alien Covenant request scenes for the Flood.

Yes Ridley Scott would be perfect. Though I would still accept Cameron and Abrams.

In opinion you guys have nailed the top 2 directors for a Halo movie Ridley Scott or James Cameron - two of my favorites. Though James Gunn is climbing up the chart for me, but I think if we are talking a Fall of Reach movie, or Ghosts of Onyx (fingers crossed), Scott or Cameron would be great.

Sidenote - how was the movie? haven’t seen it yet, been busy but plan to eventually.

It’s a good set up for awakening, and ties in with David quite a lot. Oh and it doesn’t forget about Shaw from Prometheus, but you will see her eventually in the movie. Just brace yourself.

YES! THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!!!

James Cameron, Abrams, and Ridley Scott. Pretty good directors of sci-fi and if they do it Halo might chance at being good or decent.

As mastergamer said it’s a great movie. I have to warn you though it’s very graphic violence wise so if you have a light stomach to blood and gore be prepared. Micheal Fassbender nails it again as an actor in it.

If you’ve not seen Forward Unto Dawn yet, do it. You won’t regret it.

You know, after his work on Ghost in the Shell and the ‘We Are ODST’ trailer, I wouldn’t mind Rupert Sanders being given the helm of a Halo movie.

He’s had experience with the franchise and appreciates practical effects, so I think given a good script, he could do wonders for the series.
But I get where the Ridley Scott and James Cameron love is coming from. Heck I’d pay to see a ‘Mona Lisa’ adaptation by Ridley Scott. Maybe get Kristen Ritter to play Lopez, idk.

Sir Peter Jackson.
Nuff said.

Sorry to rant here for a second, but can someone explain to me why Ridley Scott is so highly touted? Of his last five movies, only one was really good (The Martian, which was based on a novel anyway), and most of the rest were just eh. He’s good for a pretty good movie every 10 years, and mostly just okay movies throughout. Alien and Blade Runner were great, but those were 30 years ago.

Peter Jackson’s CGI -Yoink!- turns me off to him doing anything with Halo.

James Cameron would be fantastic, but he’s so particular about the movies he makes and would probably move too slowly to get a Halo movie off before he dies.

I enjoy Abrams, but he’s kind of just like the method man, the safe bet.

I really like Gareth Edwards and Rian Johnson. Forget Star Wars (which is great, but still not where I’m stealing them from), Godzilla and Looper were fantastic IMO. I think for a Halo movie you need someone with a little less experience and a little more ambition - someone who could make a Halo movie into what it truly should be. Or a relative directorial newcomver like Alex Garland (Ex Machina). Otherwise, it’s just going to be a “Jackson film” or “Cameron film”.

Controversial pick - I’d really love to see what Zack Snyder could do with the series - his stylized action would be amazing for Spartans, his gritty and darker textures could make MC look awesome, and I really would enjoy the story of Halo CE told in a non-linear fashion, flashing back to MC’s background and abduction throughout the movie. Downside is, that critics hate him and some fans don’t like him at all, so if you’re looking for a second Halo movie you may not get it.

I can say that I will only and only accept a Halo movie if the story is well told and that the movie itself is well made. It could either be a movie based on the story about one of the major Halo titles or some other back story. I haven’t studied the movie market that much but there are some skilled directors out there. However, it’s always more important that the movie is a high quality product than a waste of resources that isn’t anything good.

If someone should create a Halo movie, it will be nothing if it doesn’t feel like Halo. One of the most important parts is the op world feeling and exploration feeling. But it should not only stay there. The main focus should not be explained at first scene the beginning and we should explore what we are after over the course of the movie.

I think the best choice would be Michael bay.

okay I couldn’t keep a straight face, but I agree with you guys for Ridley Scott, His sci fi experience would be good, but I would honestly like it to be made by Blur in the same way they made the hw2 and h2a cutscenes (and hw)

I mean I really want one but we have been begging for years and with halo’s popularity dwindling I can’t see any reputable directors and producers taking the risk of making the film. Sorry to be a buzz kill lol.

No you’re being honest… I would absolutely love to see one but it’s been stuck in development hell for so many years, if they couldn’t get one made while Halo’s popularity was at its height, I’m losing a lot of faith that it will ever happen now.

I would LOVE a Halo movie, but what would other communities think of it?

In all honesty people who don’t play Halo or video games in general would see it if it was directed and produced by a great director like Scott or Cameron since they know how to do sci fi movies. Both of those names bring people to the theaters alone. Think of it like this a single Halo video game makes well over 150 200 million in sales. I know movie tickets aren’t 60 dollars a piece but the audience would be massively expended there’s a lot of older adults who don’t play Halo or video games but will see a good movie.

I hope that’s the case!
