After Playing Halo: CE I have to say….

I really want the OG 60 round Mag Assault Rifle and the one shot Hunter killing Pistol back in Infinite even if it’s only for the PVE side of things and the regular 36 round mag for PVP.

hunters need to be difficult to kill, I really dont like dropping them with 1 shot of the magnum

I disagree with you on this one. To both aspects.

I really want Hunters to be tough to fight, kinda like a mini boss. One magnum shot to kill ruins that for me.

As for the AR, I think the lower mag size is better for balancing and making the sandbox more viable. The AR is already seemingly great, a 60 round mag would be op and make it an easy choice over other weapons.

I like Hunters being tough.

But I also like feeling like a knife dancing, combat-as-ballet, hyper nonchalant -Yoink!-, who can just dance around these lumbering worm colonies and put a single, perfect shot into the Nexus of their gestalt being.

It is a pickle.

While I love CE’s enemy design and weapon sandbox, no, hunter’s need to be durable. The pistol 1-shotting hunters isn’t even necessarily a function of the pistol being powerful, but rather than the hunter’s exposed section counts as its head, thus its getting the same 1-headshot kill a pistol or sniper does to most enemies.

That said, CE hunters a most efficiently killed by just circling staffing them and mashing the melee button.

But yes, the AR needs its massive magazine again.

Hunters need to be challenging and fearful. Like Elites on LASO.

Even without one tapping hunters in the back with a magnum, hunters are kind of of a joke in CE. Every time I played that game, hunters never felt like a huge threat to me. Hell, I ended up running one over in the Silent Cartographer mission with the warthog which is something you really shouldn’t be able to do. Reach’s hunters feel like a good compromise in making hunters that feel threatening but without having them be stupid hard like in 5.

I could give or take the mag size, but I do wish Infinite used a more classic AR design. I was never a fan of the change in Reach, and the decision to go back just kinda has me scratching my head.

I would love for this to come back, but I sadly have to disagree with you because if that were a thing to return it would really take away from the hunters as a tough enemy/mini boss.

I agree with this. I enjoyed the Hunters in H2 onward the most. Reach’s Hunters are probably my favorite because they are a pain in the -Yoink- to kill, but never feel unfair to fight.

Halo 4 and 5’s Hunters have terrible enemy design. They sit around and don’t move, and suddenly lash out at you when you get too close. You are not given any opportunity to avoid their close-range attacks.

Have an option for an extended mag, sure. But I hope for Hunters we get a mix of classic and Halo 5, I loved how tanky they were in 5, they actually seemed like threats that time around instead of slow hulking masses they were with Bungies games.

I would love if they made Warden eternal one shot in the back in Halo 5.

Ok the OP pistol I can understand, but why the extended mag spit ball shooter?

That assault rifle would be the death of me. Please, no.

That’s why I said if we have the Halo one shot pistol and the 60 round AR be PVE only and have it the 36 round mag for PvP then that would be okay with me.

No, you should have to kill every single individual worm in the hunters body one at a time. It will be an entire mission dedicated to killing 1 singular hunter with only a pistol.

The CE magnum 1-shotting Hunters never made any sense to me, was it even intended to do that?
It felt more like a bug that ended up shipping on the disc and wasn’t fixable because, you know, the console had no internets yet

I like difficulty.I would like the hunters to have an unpredictable behavior

I mean, didn’t that variant of Magnum shoot explosive rounds? Kind of makes sense why they could one shot the Hunter if it was. Cause I mean, Chief took down a Hunter in Forward Unto Dawn with a grenade which scattered some of the worms and destroyed those closest to the explosion. Perhaps that’s what it was trying to mimic with the explosive rounds?

Essentially any high impact shot to their exposed colony would down them with one shot in Combat Evolved seeing as those were critical points. Plus the limited amount of weapons in CE made it so that there had to be something you could use to down them quickly on the harder difficulties. Which is why the Pistol, Sniper, and Shotgun are top picks for dealing with the Hunter.
