I can honestly say Halo 4’s campaign was the laziest, most unoriginal, boring, repetitive campaign out of all Halo’s. Go here, and press this button. Okay, now go here and press this button. Okay, turn these guns off. Okay, turn these guns on. No creative missions at all. Pitiful, to be honest.
You see, me and my two friends have been playing halo 4 every night together for at least an hour since it first came out. Honestly, the only reason I own an xbox is for Halo alone. I really don’t play any other video games. And after the first 3 missions in Halo 4, I didn’t even want to finish it. But my love for the franchise forced me too. The story was all over the place with terrible voice acting; I still don’t understand why its so hard to NOT hire bad actors. The chief suddenly having all of these over the top emotions felt way out of character and completely forced. Cortana’s sad -Yoink!- face took the AI factor out of it for me. And just overall a terribly short boring campaign. I’m sure little kids love it though (Cough rated M). Anyway, one night my friend wasn’t playing Halo 4. He was playing Far Cry 3. And my other friend and I kept telling him to get on Halo 4! But he wouldn’t. He said, Halo 4 with all its glitches and issues ruined the game for me. And he said " Far Cry 3 is awesome." So I decided to rent it, and holy crap; The campaign is absolutely incredible. The attention to detail is phenomenal. When your playing through Far Cry 3 you realize that the creative team behind this game really really cared about making a great innovative original campaign that players will love. I can’t put the game down, and now I haven’t played halo 4 in 3 days.
Now before you bash me. Let me say this. I have always loved and frankly been obsessed with the Halo Franchise. But they decided to fix a game that wasn’t broken. And now I think they are going to pay for it. I just haven’t had those moments of Halo glory like the old days. There is nothing memorable about DMR fights across maps all day. Or vehicles being completely useless. Or cloaked snipers hiding behind rocks (CLOAK IS THE WORST PART OF HALO 4) I mean lets be real here. If you don’t think we have been playing a beta for the past month and a half. YOU ARE LIVING IN A BALL! There is a reason every game type had its own playlist. And there is a reason they are individually being taken down. They get their numbers and statistics, take the game type out, until they have the set playlists coming out some time NEXT YEAR. NEXT YEAR!
In my opinion Halo 4 was a real slap to the face to all people who play the game, even if you love the game and don’t have a problem with it. Just know, they sold us a game that was definitely rushed and only 85% finished…thats being nice.
With that being said. I will probably continue to play the game here and there. Hopefully they make the necessary changes to make this game more inviting. Maps anyone?
Until then Far Cry 3 and once thats over…nothing. Cause most games suck.

As much as I liked far cry 3’s campaign, I hated the main character, and everything got so repetitive after while. Dont even get me started about the multiplayer, the only original thing is humiliation at the end, which is just stupid after a few games.
I got Far Cry 3 a week ago and I’m in the exact same position.
I’ve played FC all week and not layed a finger on Halo once. I’m not saying I agree with all your points but I must say that FC does definitely feel more polished and varied than Halo.
Yes, let’s compare an open world FPS to a strictly linear one. Because that makes sense.
It’s like comparing Fallout to CoD and saying CoD is incredibly lazy because Fallout has these options. CoD is lazy because they don’t change anything year to year…to year. Not because another game does something different.
As far as the rotational playlists go…it’s not like they are just going to stop doing it next year. They will keep swapping them out, MAYBE making some of them permanent, but likely keeping the # of playlists low so they don’t fragment the population.
Don’t blame the game developer for something “being rushed.” Usually, the publisher decides when the game is coming out based on how far along it is, or where they think the game will be complete. If Microsoft wasn’t the publisher, the game could possibly have been delayed to make sure certain things worked or were included.
But this is Microsoft we are talking about. They released Kinect before it was truly ready and aren’t going to provide an update until the neXtBox. They even gimped it a bit (changed the camera) to cut costs and get it out sooner because they wanted to compete.
That’s what happened here. The game might not be “finished” in your eyes, in which case…stop playing until you feel it is…but millions upon millions of people feel otherwise and will continue to play it as the game evolves.

Yeah same, the main character and his voice acting wasn’t really great. The campaign for Far Cry, it’s good, but not all that great maybe better than Halo 4. The gameplay though and free roam in the world is pretty damn epic, one of my favorites no doubt about it. Then co-op no free-roam? Lame.
Then slowed down version of Call of Duty for Multiplayer? Lame as well. When using the map editor, you can’t even put vehicles in multiplayer, so much for having fun, and I would love that if they added the wing suits.
Just waiting on Ubisoft to fix the game, going to give it a couple of months then it should be epic.
Edit:
By far, Halo 4 has the best multiplayer as of now and it will only get better.
#its all opinions that is all. I played far cry 3, i didnt enjoy it at all, apart from the lead villan who is great btw, the sp gameplay is very boring and can be broken and made so easy, just by abusing things that the game kinda tells you to do anyway, ie using silencer with sniper rifles makes fc3 turn into , fish in a barrel shoot fest, repetitive taking of bases and killing animals.
After getting threw with fc3 i felt the gameplay was no differnt to far cry 1 thats like 8 years old. Thing is i can understand alot of kids playing fc3 now probably didnt play that game and see this gameplay as somthing new.
Granted hao 4 gameplay hasnt changed to much but comparing h1 gameplay to halo 4s its changed alot more than fc1 over fc3.
Im enjoying halo 4s campagin, and the story thats being told is now actually decent in merging game and book cannon togther.
Still end of the day its about opinion, and seing campagins are solo play , thats all that matters anyway.
Id also like to point out that fc gameplay is far differnt than halos is, sure halo is in a small kinda sandbox but its stll very arcady and has much more intence firefights than what far cry offers. End of the day again its just about prefrences and what you prefer. Just because you prefer one over the other doesnt mean the other sux.
My fav campagin of all time is probably hl 1, but i dont play it anymore but it still beats out 99% of the stuff that comes out today.
Far Cry 3 was amazing, definitely game of the year for me. The story kept pushing boundaries and kept you on the edge of your seat. Vaas is definitely one of the best villians of any gaming franchise and will be remembered for a long time to come! If anyone hasn’t already picked it up I highly recommend you do!
How is the whole “Run here, press button, run there, kill guys, etc.” thing any different from the first, and generally accepted best, Halo campaign?
Except, you know, you couldn’t fly a space-jet through a giant alien vessel in CE. Or a Pelican in a forest of upside-down skyscrapers. Or stomp through the halls of another ship in a giant suit of armor, blowing away Covenant and Prometheans as you go. And you didn’t have an enemy force that could teleport/climb on walls/come back from the dead (besides Flood). And a whole slew of other stuff that I can’t remember right now.
And now, we’re not playing a beta, and no, I don’t live in a ball, and no, it wasn’t a slap in the face unless you’re so oversensitive towards change that it would seem so to you.
the thing is, Far cry and Halo 4 are different types of fps’s, Don’t expect Halo 4’s to be the best of all fps’s cause there are different types. This is an unfair comparison. Halo 4’s campaign is basically the same as the other Halos, actually, it’s better than 2’s and Reach’s. TBH, you’re overreacting to the button pressing, it really isn’t that bad.
Can i ask why it was a step down from halo reach? As i cant see anything in the levels that would drasticy be so differnt for h4 to be worse than those in reach?
Just curious as i didnt enjoy reach campagin all that much mostly because the gameplay against elites was the same as always, the boom and other armour abilties just slowed down gameplay and some of the levels were quite small and linier in places compared to h4 and previous halos.
Biggest issue with Halo 4 campaign for me is the fast that you clear an area, press a button, clear the area again, press a button again, then clear the area once more to progress.
> TBH, you’re overreacting to the button pressing, it really isn’t that bad.
It’s boring and repetitive. It also shows that 343 wasn’t capable of giving the player new, creative and more engaging things to do at that moment in time.
