I love FPS games and Star Wars so I was very much looking forward to the beat. Also I enjoyed Battlefront 2 way back in the day.
I have one complaint which was a massive turn off:…
The thing is, since there’s so many things going on and so many players. I felt insignificant in the outcome of the game. I could go 1-15 or 20-5, grab multiple objectives, and we would still win or lose. Too much babysitting of teammates. Even the 4 v 4 Dropzone games just don’t feel…what’s the word…competitive? I thought 4v4 would be more intense, but the shooting is so “floaty”, holding down the trigger seems better than actual aiming. No team voice chat simply baffles me. I don’t always play in a party, so not being able to callout or even chat with randos gave me more reason to think battlefront is too casual.
That’s why I love Halo and CoD where you and your squad of 3-4 people determine if you win or lose. Responsibility is on you. If you do poorly, there’s a good chance of you losing, especially in K/D focused games like Breakout and SWAT. Even though Halo’s BTB is a turn off for me for the same reason for battlefront, it at least does some things right like vehicle spawns.
I know this may not be a popular opinion on this board but Halo 5 is my go to FPS right now, and it looks like it will be that way for a while. I am going to try out the Division Beta tomorrow, but that is a different type of game.
I have to agree. I am a big fan of Star Wars and both previous Battlefront games. I played the new Battlefront (through EA Access) and am highly disappointed. They didn’t do anything that pulls me into the game but instead left out too many features.
I am really enjoying Halo 5 though.
talk about lack of content for what you pay for, man Battlefront is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. No campaign at all being one example. And to play the full game you have to pay what $40 for the map DLC. It looks good. But is it worth $90+. He!! no. I’m happy with H5 the more I play it the more i like it. When I first got it. the MP was quite a struggle. but I think I’m over the learning curve so I’m doing better which always makes it more fun.
I played Battlefront beta a bit. It was alright. I don’t think it’s doing so well right now though. MS store had it on sale for only $30 a few days ago.

If that is true, that means the population is nothing like what they were expecting. For a new release you would not expect to see a significant price drop until Spring at the earliest.
battlefront has amazing graphis and sound effetcs. that’s about it

Granted it was a one day only sale, but other games… Halo 5 only dropped 15 bucks, and Forza 6 only dropped 20 for the sale. There were a few others, like the new guitar hero, but I didn’t pay much attention to them.

totally agree with this. the sound effects WERE ON MOTHER EFN’ POINT.

That’s actually the price I’d be willing to buy the game for. I think it will be on sale again sooner rather than later. I am hoping for the PS4 to have it on sale though.
I grew up loving battle front 1-2. Beta scared me away from the new one. Looks great, sounds great, but gameplay seems bad for a battlefront game. Plus no galactic conquest mode…

Sounds like you are not a big fan of BF4 either. I am a huge fan of the BF games and beta of Star Wars Battlefront just felt like a watered down mix between H5 and BF4. I even put at least 6-8 hours into it. I might eventually rent Battlefront but it just does not stack up to BF4 or H5 imo.

It’d probably be for console shooters:
Halo >>> CoD >> TitanFall >>>> Battlefield (Bad company was the only BF game I played) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Battlefront
Good to know, I was thinking of giving it a shot. It is great to hear that Halo 5 remains boss

Battlefront is worth a $19.99 clearance bin purchase IMO.
I played the Beta, I thought it looked great but the gameplay was disappointing
Well, yeah! That’s like comparing checkers to chess.

true.
I was still very surprised though. then again, the original battlefronts were run and gun shooters.
In its defense it is amazing for what it is- a casual shooter. But that’s it. I’m using it to wind down from halo sessions and loving a quick game here or there.

Battlefront is fun, but it’s not … well, I don’t care about it. I don’t care if I do well, I don’t care what rank I am, I just realized I haven’t played it in a week …
It’s Star Wars as yoink. That’s what it is. And it has all of the graphics … all of them. lol. It’s looks and sounds amazing. And I geek out flying X-Wings and Slave One. But after 2 matches it’s boring. There’s no intensity. I don’t get that rush and elevated heart rate that I’ve gotten from every single Halo game. But that’s for a good reason and I completely understand why they did it. Battlefront isn’t meant to compete with games like Halo. It’s meant to be Star Wars as yoink and an easy to play shooter for all ages and the whole family. And that’s fine. It’s Disney and there aren’t that many shooters out there like that, save for Splatoon.
So I’m okay with it. I understand why they went that route. It’s not my cup of tea, but I hop in every once in a while to geek out.
