I was just playing some Halo 3 campaign, which I haven’t done in a while, and I noticed the voice actors for Dutch & Mickie in Halo 3: ODST also lent their voices to marines in Halo 3 (makes sense). I was playing “The Ark” and in my Warthog were two ODSTs, Dutch & Mickie, spouting out clever quips and what have you.
Then I thought, it would be canonically possible for them to be on the Ark with Chief. They were last on Earth, in Africa, during the events of ODST & Halo 2, so when Chief returns to Africa, and Lord Hood loses the argument to stay and protect Earth, and a fleet of UNSC and Elite forces head through the portal towards the Ark, it would only make sense for Buck, Mickie, Dutch, Romeo, and the Rookie to go with them.

So I wondered: do we know anything about Buck and his squad since the end of the ODST? Or are we just still waiting and hoping? Or can I just go on pretending Mickie and Dutch hung out with Chief on the Ark? Because Mickie just fired his rocket launcher into a Ghost at point blank range and the whole Warthog blew up. Isn’t he the explosives expert? lol

We do not currently know the fate of Buck’s squad post-ODST, so it is possible they went to the Ark with the Chief. It would be great if they could appear again in some future Halo media. Maybe an ODST sequel. Maybe Halo Escalation.

We can’t infer that because we hear the ODST’s voices as Marines in Halo 3 that they are the same characters. We can hear Nathan Fillion’s voice in ODST as Buck and his voice is in Halo 3 as well, except that his character name is Reynolds in Halo 3, so we can’t assume that Dutch or Mickey are in Halo 3.
