After June - Will paid DLC be a thing?

In all the trailers for updates that I have seen,
It always says “Free updates every month*”
Then at the bottom:
“*Until June 2016”
So, what happens after June?
Will we get paid DLC?
Or is that just it, gone?

Well if we take a look at what 343 does best, Halo 5 will be completely and utterly vacant on June.

That’s probably when they’ll just stop updating the game overall together. Which I hope isn’t the choice they’ve made. There’s still a lot that 343i has promised us and have yet to begin, I feel like they’re behind if they’re planning on stopping on giving out free content until June.

Its just there to cover themselves.
All it means is that june is the last month we are promised content for. After that will most likely depend on how much they are making from reqs

I think overall activity will be the deciding factor. If enough people are playing, it will be worth their time to give us more.

Well, since 343 claimed “So we’re delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together”, meaning all DLC will be free, I’d rather think it’s over after june. Unless they were to back down from their initial claim, having essentially lied to their customers. Which really wouldn’t be a first for them, so I guess everything’s possible?

Usually when a game company says their discontinuing updates, that usually indicates that the game is coming to an end and the next installment is coming out soon.
Don’t get your hopes up to high for H5 anymore.

Please change this “yoinking” stuff, 343i!!!

I would think they would do something after June, maybe not as large as these monthly drops, but something to prolong the life of halo 5. more unlockables from player/clan commendations would be nice. maybe something that ties in halo wars 2. who really knows except 343.

I REALLY discourage this, some people’s parents may not allow them to get the paid dlc, and they’ll miss out. And then 343 may lock some modes to DLC Only owners, which would make people stray away from the game.

Maybe that will be the last update and they will start putting a full team into halo 6.

um i dont think they will vacant the game i think it means they will stop dropping content

Only time will tell. If they are smart they will continue to do the free dlc thing, powered by req packs. However, they do have to start developing Halo 6 and what not, so maybe they will have a smaller team working to maintain Halo 5, which is understandable.

That’s what has happened with the DLC since Halo 3.
You should be happy that Halo 5 is using this format for the time being.

And $10 isn’t much compared to the $60 they paid for the game, and the $300 they spent on the console. But that’s beside the point. 343 have said that they don’t want to split the community like that, which is why the maps are free and we have the REQ system.

Campaign DLC, now I’ll pay through the nose for that!

That’s actually my big question. But I don’t think that you’ll have to pay to get dlc’s after June, I think the updates just automatically update the game. I’m still looking through that.

Some parents (like mine) don’t buy add-on content because “It’s not going to enhance your game in any way”

Halo wars 2 would be the next big halo thing this E3 and fall. Not sure if the halo team will continue to support h5 or move onto h6 or halo h5.5 or another spin off.

My guess is they will still have updates, but not every month. Whether they are free or not, no idea. I’d like the think that they would be free, so the population isn’t fractured, but that wasn’t the case in any of the other Halos.

If its a map pack it will.
You could always youse your own money and buy it yourself?

June is around E3 and at that time they will most likely be teasing Halo 6 and then full-on development for that will begin, there might be balancing updates if the last update causes game breaking bugs and theyll continue rotating the social playlist but other than that I think its over in June

I hope they don’t, got a family to provide for and can almost never afford add-ons…lucky just to get the game and I know it’s the same for alot of people. With making money of REQ packs they could continue to release free content, just don’t do it every month. This is one of the things that has made Halo 5 stand out from this generation of games where having to pay more and more money for a game just to play it is commonplace.
