After finishing the campaign... [Spoiler!]

So I’ve finished the campaign now:

I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.

The Soundtrack is awesome and the landscape are really awesome. Also some hidden Marine spots where some snipers were dead on their camp is really good and features the different styles of war [like a sniper hiding in a rocky place to support his allies from the distance.]

What’s dissapointing is that nearly all the minor missions are the same. We save some Marines, drive to another position, save another Marines, kill that or that high target and capture that and that outpost. The first three to 4 times are still really cool but I got really bored with it.
I unlocked all those special weapons that you can achieve when you save enough marines/outposts etc and they are really cool.

The main reason why I’m dissappointed is that the whole stuff around the Infinity is a joke now. Escharum said that the Infinity was capture/destroyed in 4 minutes [even if it’s and hour] and was lost. Why the hell are you building up the Infinity as “so great and awesome” over Halo 4 and 5 and now just let it be destroyed to let the banished look more powerful? Same thing as with Jul M’dama who got killed by Locke and was builded in his character in Halo 4 Spartan Ops etc.
Now we also have a new enemy and a new… new enemy… I guess? Who is still hidden in the darkness and is - of course - more deadly than even the Flood.
I guess that that new enemy is going to be killed again really quickly after some DLC drops to make a new new enemy looking more deadly and so on.

Also; it is a joke: what the happened the last years in the Halo Universe? Why are the Banished so powerfull that they were able to keep up power with Cortana and her kind? Oh Cortana is now dead? Thought it would be our mission to engage her. Reminds me of the story of Halo Wars 2: Cortana was interrupting the ring where Anders was [what happened to her?] and we all thought: Ouh, Cortana will be sure an enemy. But now she was just "destryoed by the Weapon and Chief… It’s just a big joke to me

But no, now Cortana was killed by the Banished [okay by herself but the banished seems to be really powerfull] and we aaaaall missed everything.
As for someone like me, who knows more about the Halo Universe, of course far not everything, I don’t want to imagine how painfull this entire story must be for new players.
But still, it give me headaches how awful this story was in the end.

I’m sure that there are people that can enjoy the story and I hope for everyone to be able to enjoy the story but the next run I#ll just play it on legendary and collect the rest data [think I just miss 4 or 5 to collect] and then the story will be put aside.

I’m happy I have the Ultimate Game Pass cause I would never buy that story for 60~70$.

Atriox and the Banished don’t defeat Cortana. It’s the Weapon and the Chief who lock Cortana down then Atriox ambushes the Infinity. Given that Cortana destroys the Brute homeworld that easily the Banished and the Brutes were probably getting absolutely smashed before this. They had zero chance of winning.

See my take is that the Banished are cowards. They only ever attack when their enemies are weakened and get the jump on them. Could they have beat full strength UNSC from Halo 4? Could they beat full strength Covenant? Could they beat Cortana? In a straight fight they would lose.

As for Doisac, Iam just saying Remember Reach. They have no right playing the victim and demanding vengeance on Humanity. That is a stunning level of hypocrisy and is just a two faced cover to get power.

Even Atriox getting Chief is only because he gets the drop on him since he didn’t have an AI with him. If they fight again with the Weapon, that Brutes dead.

Probably the reason they had the Infinity be so easily defeated was that fans associate it too much with a departure from traditional Halo. Taking out the Infinity gave 343 the opportunity to make the story about Chief and humanity with their backs again at the wall, versus if the Infinity was around then it’d be the opposite.

I thought infinity would be the base and the last hope of humanity and it would serve as transport to different planets, when i started playing and saw infinity get destroyed i was shocked…who the hell thought of this, i read all the books, know most of the lore and this ship was the pinnacle of technology, damn i hate to say it but the failure of the writers is beyond repair…yes the gameplay is perfect but that’s it…i won’t mention problems we already said…but destroying the lore is unforgivable and to new player’s you won’t understand nothing, sorry.

That’s very frustrating that yet again they’ve managed to ruin the lore even more than they did with Halo 5. (Assuming you thought Halo 5 and all the lore related to it were bad) I’m personally not up on all the details of the story beyond Halo 3. I know a bit about Halo 4 and 5 but I’ve been replaying the games and deep diving into all the surrounding lore as I go this time.

From what I understand 343 did a good job with a lot of the books they were responsible for that they recommend reading to help fans understand Halo 4 and 5 better… but when it comes to Halo 5 itself they dropped the ball quite hard.

If the books they made are great and Halo 5 and Halo Infinite story was junk there must be a real disconnect between whoever is in charge of the lore in the books and the Halo Wars 2 game vs the mainline Halo games.

If 343 did a great job expanding the Forerunner lore just to have all their setup fall apart by going in a weak direction in the games… that seems like an awful big disappointment.

Ok so first, 343 was and is building up the Banished as this big Force, everything in infinite tryed to make you feel small in comparison. That isnt even something new. In Halo Wars 2 we are told that the Covenant nearly defeated Humanity, but they didnt even come close to defeat the Banished. What would you think would happen if Humanity bumped into the Banished after beeing told that? Them destroying Infinity, the strongest ship of Humanity in Halo, had to make you feel as if you are fighting against a giant force with no chance of winning. Its Buildup and not surpeising in the least…
I was sceptical about new races in Halo, i was weirded out about the jhone aswell but the way they did in Infinite was smart and actually made me Fangirl out loud you might have a diffrent opinion but im interested about the “new guys”

I felt like the missions were well balanced, i wished for some biom variety but those generic open world missions werent that often incorperated in the main story (3-4 times I think) Considering the others i dont feel about them like you do

After the corner they wrote themselfs in, i think that was a good way to end Cortanas story from 4 and 5. she didnt just lose or go away, she did it with a bang and a nod to halo ce, all thats left of her are just… Dust and Echos.

The writing was great I think 343 are on a good track. I genuinely dont understand some of your critisism, especcaly in considering the alot of story, backstory and lore. However a opinion is an opinion, in the end we have to agree to disagree

So to clarify something for you, how Atriox manages to get control of her is by using the Weapon. He locks her down and wants the Activation Index, she doesnt give it to him, blows up a portion of the ring, presumably killing Atriox (We find out in the post-credits scene it isnt so.)
