I was originally writing this as a reply to the SR152 Grind thread, but it started getting a bit too long so I decided to break it off into its own thing. Before we get to it, I want to say that firstly, I’m pretty sure none of these things are new criticisms, I’m sure it’s all be said before. And secondly, this isn’t meant to be some huge negative and hateful review. I really enjoy WZFF and want to keep playing it even after I hit 152. But this stuff’s been sitting in my head for a while and I just want to dump it out somewhere.
Anyway, here’s what annoys me about Mythic WZFF:
The Scoreboard and Scoring: It feels really inconsistent and vague. Like, I’ve had the most kills and boss kills and still come in fourth and then I’ve joined a game on Round 3, got 2 boss kills and 17 kills to take first place over the guy with 5 boss kills and 50+ kills. It’s really weird. I think the in-game scoreboard could’ve shown more stats than just “Boss Kills” and “Normal Kills”. It doesn’t give a lot of info and it can be hard to find out where you’re falling behind. Honestly, I’ve given up on the scoreboard at this point. I’ll try my best but I’m not gonna sweat for first place. Except against clans. I refuse to get beaten by a clan.
The Game really tries to screw you: For the most part, WZFF is a fine and normal game mode. But then there are times where the game pulls a little a dirty little trick on ya. Like when you decided to spawn a tank to fight some Hunters and… they were waiting outside of the garage. Get spawn camped, noob. Or that time that you take out 99% of a bosses health bar only to see “Teammates eliminated a Knight Noble” and you get flashbacks to that high school group project.
Grunt Mechs: Bro, can your needles not track me around every corner across the entire map? Thanks.
The Req System: I’m not talking about the whole RNG lootbox aspect of them - though it can be tiring having to open seven packs just to get one Warzone XP boost. But in-game, having a bad round can really hold you back. I think this is specifically a Mythic WZFF thing. I’ve floundered on the Round 1, and then just wasn’t able to keep up with the rest of the team. I’ve gone into the Final Round without the ability to get a Scorpion or any high-level Reqs. It’s not a feel good moment when your team is zipping around in Wasps before you can even get a BR with a scope on it.
Spawning: Can I pick where I spawn? No? Okay, opposite end of the map it is.
Defense Rounds: These are the bane of my existence. I’m not going to say too much about this, because if you’ve played even a few games Mythic WZFF then you already know exactly what I’m talking about. Enemies spawn close to (and sometimes even right on top of) the points you’re supposed to defend. Meanwhile, you spawn at the 7/11 that’s 20 minutes away. Having to defend those three Relics that are just out in the open on Sanctum against waves Hunters landing directly in front of them? Good luck. On Heroic, defense rounds are probably not that bad. They just don’t feel too balanced for Mythic.
Boss Banshees: If they’re looking at you, it’s probably too late.
Those Teammates: 99.9% of the time, your teammates are totally normal and chill people. But on occasion, you end up with That Guy. You know, the guys that play bumper cars with their Ghost, the guys that use their Phaeton’s evade to wreck other players vehicles, the guys that run in front of you so you’ll laser yourself and they can steal your weapon. Those people.
Phanton Gunners: Why? Just… why?
That’s a shorter list than I thought it would be, but I think that pretty much sums up my grievances with WZFF at the moment. It’s a really fun game mode that just has some really annoying designs and mechanics to it. If they bring this mode or one like it to Infinite, I really hope they polish off some of these rough edges.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. I hope ya’ll have a good day! Or night! Or whatever time it is wherever you are!
Haha, it seems like you’ve experienced every pain of Mythic Warzone Firefight. You get better at it over time, but you will never be able to run from phantom gunners.
I would say that the Scoring system is quite deterministic and relatively easy to understand. The overall score given to the player is the sum from 3 distinct factors known as Boss Takedowns, Kill/Assist medals and Bonuses.
The first factor that contributes to the overall score is the Score given for getting a boss takedown and is solely dependent on the boss itself. However, it should be noted that this score value is dependent on the boss itself and not on which type of boss that is killed and in some maps and to illustrate this, the score value assigned for a Mythic Hunters may vary greatly between different rounds or maps.
The second score contributing factor is a score value assigned for getting specific assist and kill medals. If an assist value exist for a kill medal, then its assigned score value will be half of the score value for the corresponding kill medal. In table 1, you can see the score value assigned for the different kill and assist medals.

Table 1. Score values assigned for getting different types of kills and assist medals in Mythic Warzone Firefight.
The third and final factor that contributes to your score is bonuses received at the end of each round. There exist 5 types of bonuses called Completion, Survival, Speed, Kill and Assist. The completion bonus is awarded universally to all players completing the round, survival bonus is awarded is awarded if the round is completed without any deaths, speed bonus is awarded if the round is completed universally if the round is completed in less than 2 minutes and the kill/assist bonus is awarded if the player has managed to get a specific number of kills or assists in the round (not counting vehicles destroyed assists or kills). Something else that should be noted with the kill and assist bonus is that it has 5 different tiers and the score payout is increased for higher tier. In table 2, you can see the score value assigned for the different bonuses in Mythic Warzone Firefight.

Table 2. The score values assigned for different bonuses in Mythic Warzone Firefight.
I know exactly this. I have just started with Halo ( about 6 months ) I had a game where one of our own team destroyed everyone elses vehicles with their Phaeton. Destroyed my tank, pushed other players off the edge etc. When I spawned back in with power weapons to take on the final boss, the team member then just ran us over. My Hubby has been playing Halo since it first came out on the X-Box, here in Australia, in 2002. He just showed me a match that he had on Stormbreak. One of the team was such an absolute jerk, that the entire rest of the team had given up the objective and was attacking this one idiot. Two players had quit and this jerk was in a wraith. He was getting attacked my my Hubby in a Temple Wraith, another player in a Wraith with a player on the turret, a player in a Banshee and a player in a Wasp. They lost the round.
Then you mention Boss Kills. Hubby has complained about the same thing. He will finish a game second, having done 30,000 in damage. The winner will have done 15,000 damage.
Spawning - That’s a contentious point. In Urban, with the 4 Soldiers and 3 Wardens, in the final round. When you spawn a tank on Warzone Firefight, it’s at the opposite end of the map, when you spawn a tank on Mythic Warzone, it’s up inside the tunnel, with the Wardens. A heap of soldiers give you a hail storm of grenades and the Warden will finish you off with one shot.
I’ll just throw out 3 things that bugged me about mythic, legendary, and heroic warzone firefight, all of which could have been fixed at anytime by 343
Selling each individual req one at a time. I posted a vid here to joke about it. I timed how long it would take to sell 800+ woodland warthogs.
Killing enemies too quickly in some rounds would glitch the game ending in a loss
