After 2 Weeks of Aim Assist for Mouse and Keyboard Players....this is a disaster

The irony of controller players complaining about aim assist being unfair to them. You can’t make this stuff up.

Anyway, this just shows that no matter who the KBM player is. Could be Shroud and because he’s on KBM, no way he can be better than any “core” Halo controller player. So 343 must do something about it.

Thats because of the addition of red crossair on pc. With the skewer now you can lead the shot and see of it ll land from the reticle changing colour so you know exhacly where to shoot. Its not about mnk buff its about the red reticle

Please explain how you feel it’s ridiculously unfair?

Clearly I’m walking into a trap here based on the responses but I’m going to partially agree with the OP. I’ve been playing a lot more games recently against exceptionally good snipers.

Maybe it’s the KBM aim assist, maybe a new hack came out with the red reticle on PC, or maybe I’ve been unlucky. Hard to make any concrete conclusions when I don’t even know the input device of the players.

If it is the KBM aim assist, then I’m not sure what the right response is. KBM players finally feel more competitive which is a good thing. If it’s now a case that KBM has a significant advantage at long range precision while controller still hold a significant advantage at closer ranges, that creates frustrating gameplay imbalances both ways. Maybe there is no better solution and the control inputs are just too dissimilar.

Who existed with controllers only as well.

I’ve seen a slight increase in performance, which boosted my self-confidence, which further increased my performance.
Been picking up snipers faaar more than I used to before and I do think I’m somewhat capable with them.

Absolutely but it’s been a significant difference. I never claimed to be absolutely sure that the aim assist changes were the whole cause or even a significant part of it, just that it seemed possible based on my recent experience.

Also, I feel it’s important to highlight that even if it is a result of the aim assist I don’t necessarily think it has to be removed.

Not that Steam is the only version of Halo Infinite, but it’s a majority of the KBM players but still most people on Steam are using a controller.

In November Steam gained 49%, but it’s still not a lot of players. From 6,011 peak players to 12,906 players.

The last 30 days, safe to say these are the numbers for December. They lost players. From 12,906 to 7,804.

Just as it was pre update, KBM players are not your problem.

I prefer a Crossplay toggle, simply because I never wanted to play with PC players to begin with. Crossplay was all the hype back in the day when it was PlayStation and Xbox reportedly teaming up, because that makes much more sense to me. But since PC gaming doesn’t require Sony’s approval, PC Crossplay is being forced onto all Xbox players because Microsoft also has stake in PC gaming. It’s just business to them.

~reports you for “quitting”~
Doing my civic duty! lol j/k

It’s not just business for them. It’s called evolving. This is why I’m a fan of Phil Spencer, he wants everyone to be able to play together regardless of their platform of choice. Sony are/were the ones who were being stubborn about it. It actually went back with Fortnite and Sony kept declining it. So Epic said fine then, we’re pulling Fortnite off of PlayStation. That changed their minds real quick. Then Sony tried it again with PUBG, but it happened.

There are games that work pretty good with console and PC with hardly any complaints. Halo just isn’t there yet. We all know the game was rushed and incomplete at launch, and still is.

What they’re doing seems like it’s on the right track, I just hope it’s not another year it takes them to look into it.

I agree quitting a game dose not help anyone in the long term. Regardless of what platform there on I always stay two the end of the game.

This is true, but Phil also said he would never allow crossplay to be forced upon the player, he knows the M/KB players have a faster more precision based turn that controller players don’t have access to.

343i are a law unto themselves where crossplay is concerned, they have forever tarnished the reputation of Halo being a system seller, of having fair and balanced maps and of having a unique playstyle that stood it apart from all the other FPS games out there.

Ahh that is a totally fair point. Hadn’t considered that. Thanks

Yeah, I don’t know Phil but I guess he seems like a decent dude. Still it feels more like a forced evolution than a natural development cycle. Evolution is not meant to go backwards, like releasing a half completed flagship product, and then forcing a portion of your player base to adapt to a broken input for a year, among many other issues and missing features that affected anyone who played the game. When Starfield was only just recently delayed, Phil said in that interview that Xbox has been pushing games out too early… I believe that interview was the beginning of “evolution,” but actions speak louder than words.

It’s a real shame Sony didn’t agree to the deal, maybe Xbox devs wouldn’t be so adamant on PC crossplay today. Sony could have kept their Exclusives and got a share of the multiplayer revenue. They have been too stubborn about crossplay, but it is what it is.

Man, I’ve seen streamers with one hand or even no hands play fps games with their mouth and stomp people with two hands. There is more to gaming than kbm vs controller. Both are archaic relics of the 90s and we need to move on from them. I’ve been using mixed controls with thumbstick movement and mouse aiming for years. It’s been around since PS2.

People dig their grave by controller of preference. Same with fighting games using an arcade fightstick, mech and pilot games using HOTAS, rhythm games using a dance pad, guitar, or drums, and racing games using a wheel and pedals. You choose what controller you want to use.

It’s entirely 343’s responsibility to make the game reliable and accessible to all audiences. Plenty of alternative controllers that people use in other games. Halo players are just still living in the early 2000s.

Dsync/modding is ridiculous. Weapons like the skewer do not work against PC players. They just run around with the skewer in their spartan. Same exact thing happens with blue spiders. Rapid fire pistol, commando that acts like a sniper, rockets that turn 90, shooting through walls, etc. Oh and now the 5v4 / 6v4 mod/glitch is just such a joy.

Fair enough! lol. I can take a few negative points on my gamertag that’s nearly 20 yrs old.

Got clips?

I’ve encountered rapid fire pistols, however no Commando snipers, rockets turning 90? And shooting through walls is a latency issue that has been present since basically online gaming’s birth.
Think I had a 5v4 match where the opponents had an extra bot once around release but never since then.

Winter Update with 5v4 - not a huge issue of the extra player but not being able to damage/kill those extra players is totally ridiculous.

I don’t really do video editing but I tried to make the clips concise. Just created the account to share some infinite clips as its just so spectacularly appalling that software like this exist in 2021/2022 at +$60 price point. The commando sniper - just checkout the PC mods for infinite.

Agree with this sentiment for the most part. But HALO 2,3,4 and Reach were not nearly this bad and that was with higher ping rates. IMO the closest Infinite resembles is HALO 1 via XBconnect. Whatever the reason, when selling a product at full price with this severe of an issue and two years later - some action is required beyond just cosmetic stuff. Only conclusion I come up with is that 343 is trying to end the HALO franchise with Infinite.
