I have recently come across some players that are obviously not playing, but their spartan still shoots and jumps. I report em, but how are they doing this?
I envision something like that Simpsons episode where Homer gets really obese, works from home, and gets the typing bird that continually types “Y” until there is a near nuclear meltdown.
Might just be someone who’s grinding req points maybe? Shoots to stay in the game
I wanna say that those “AFK” players are running around their house because their parents / siblings or whoever needs their help with something (I hate this with a passion). While they’re doing whatever it may be, they’re periodically nudging their controller so the game won’t kick them out for inactivity.

I have had to do this once in a while, so I understand somewhat, but these are folks who shoot constantly until they run out of ammo. It seems to be more than just sporadic shooting that keeps them from being booted.
They’re probably putting a rubberband around their controller to always keep tension on certain buttons. When final fantasy 7 came out one of my friends would leave his game on all day while he was in school, and he had rubberbands on the analog stick and circle I think. So the game would enter fights all day to gain XP while be was out.

Wow! Well, I guess my next question is this: Is it wrong that I spartan charge my AFK teammates into the battlefield?

Do you benefit anything out of doing that? I don’t think the game will kick them out still. It sucks they’re working the system, but if you S charge them out to die and nothing is benefiting to that, well… might as well leave them be. I would say record the match and that player and show it to someone who matters here, but I don’t believe you can do that. It’s like name and shame right?
Might be better off just ignoring it if nothing can be done.
When a games points are derived from time spent in game and not performance, people will just set up rubberbands and walk in circles or nudge the controller slightly as stated above. It truly is the worst system for everyone. Casuals don’t really get rewarded for improvement, and comps don’t get rewarded for skill.
I think a solution would be to study Halo Reach’s credit system (not the armor part, I mean the reward system) halo reach awarded you credits for almost everything you did, and even made a team bonus for winning ontop of a fun jackpot system.

I get the benefit of a small amount of petty satisfaction from getting a cheater killed.

Then by all means friend, spartan charge them into oblivion! Haha
They are free kills though
Nothing seems to happen when reporting players but report , ignore move onto the next game
You could try to get them to commit suicide by pushing them off of a ledge or in the water if they’re close enough which could get the game to boot them if it happens enough, but that scenario is unlikely to happen and you would waste too much time doing it.
If it’s Firefight, blocking a player so you won’t match them still works so just do that and report them.
this may be due to the fact that they leave the trigger depressed so that the character keeps doing something so as not to be expelled from the game and thus at the end of the game gain experience and points
I do this sometimes, most of the time I’m in the middle of making a coffee and the game starts up prematurely, my average wait time for a match is more than enough to make a cup of joe, but sometimes, just sometimes I get the odd instant match-up. There’s also the gamers who shoot until their last bullet in swat to boost the last bullet commendation for Achilles. I’ve also had to do that. Although I don’t see why ppl who boost for reqs don’t just play with one hand. Whenever I’m playing Super Fiesta and I’m having a smoke, I can get around 9 kills playing one handed easily. And that’s a minimum. Even if I do have years of practice being a lazy F*er. People have no right to jump into a game and intentionally do nothing.
