So, I am having a problem with the aiming in this halo and it’s rather disheartening. I have my sensitivity at 2 when it use to be at 4. I feel it’s just too fast now. I am having a hard time getting head shots and I get so frustrated when I can’t finish a kill from afar or just when I am in a battle with some one. Anyone have any tips they can give me to try and to improve my shot? I’d really appreciate it. At this point I feel like a burden on me team.
It’s really weird that most people felt they needed to lower sensitivity in H5 while I felt I had to increase it. I typically play on 4. Have basically since H2. I played on 5 in H5 because it felt sluggish.
Now I’m back to 4. Not sure if they patched it or if I just got used to it but I’m back to where I used to be. It just took time to adjust.
However, you didn’t want my life story. You wanted tips. Play customs on 10 sensitivity for a game or two. Then go back to your normal and you’ll be much more accurate. I do this any time I feel sloppy in a game.

Thanks! I will try this.

I had to increase mine as well but then I kept it the same as it was in halo 4 because aiming is harder in 5.
I see it’s best to set the sensitivity according to what position you play on your team if you play a rushing position as far as defender then yes set 2 to 3 , battle rifle or sniper or any other long range gun this sensitivity is good for that if you play with an SMG or a fast pace gun then I would use 5 to 8 . I’m agresive I use 6 now . I was using 3 and was getting killed alot.

I lowered both the dead zones to 4% left aim acceleration at 3 and run at a 5 on sensitivity. Since the dead zone update came out I have been back to my normal self…but before it hit I was absolutely garbage. My game history will show that.

If you have people to play with either download or build a map like octagon (circular(ish) map with no cover) and just try taking each other out with nothing but a pistol for 10-20 mins a day. That will definitely help you improve fairly quickly.
Check your outter dead zone setting. I accidentally had mine at 15% for god knows how long. I brought it back down to 10% and then settled on 8%. MUCH easier to control and its not nearly as snappy as before.
I am at 2 acceleration, 1 sensitivity (or vice versa, cant remember), and 6% inner deadzone
what i did is play a stupid amount of swat. halo is all about headshots and swat helps that tremendously

That may help with general aiming but playing with friends on the base games maps is a much better idea. In my real world experience anyone can hit a target at a range, but during a live fire exercise it seems people lose their nerve.
Once you get your dead zone and sensitivity in the right place, because default is a joke. Id practice with a few good friends on the basic arena maps in customs and learn the pathways and traffic areas. That’ll help you learn the flow and help you know where to go when wishing to avoid the fight or get up close.
Look Sensitivity: 4
Acceleration: 2
Inner Deadzone: 10%
Outer Deadzone: 9%
Use left thumbstick to get your reticle in the general area and then use the right thumbstick to do the fine adjustments. In general aiming for me is 90% left and 10% right.
My overall accuracy is around 50% but in game results are closer to 55-60. Overall is only lower because of Breakout.

That’s not entirely true. Body shots do the same as head shots when you have shields.
The couple milliseconds it takes you to flip back up to the head after bodyshotting the shields down is the difference between life and death. Heck, even automatics do increased headshot weapons w/o shields. All about dem headshots. Usually I play campaign before getting into a new halo/ after a long hiatus. Really helped me get into halo 5 easily after not touching a console for quite a long time.

Yeah but being able to acquire the headshot quickly when the shields go down is an extremely useful skill. You won’t always have full shields, and neither will your enemy. Sometimes being able to get that fast headshot is what decides who survives an encounter.
For that reason I also recommend playing a lot of SWAT to sharpen your aim.
Don’t play it too much though, or your regular game skills will atrophy a bit
I’m not saying don’t make headshots; I’m just saying that you don’t get any extra perks for doing so exclusively when the shields are up.

Eh, that might be true in principle, but in experience the difference is often times too negligible to notice. If you’ve got your aim settings down pat, usually this won’t be an issue. At least, it’s usually not for me.
I do second the usefulness of SWAT, though. It’s a good tool to help you think in terms of playing defensively and getting off tight shots. Like others have said, though, rely on it too much and it might backfire.
You could try
Sens 5-6
Acc 1-2
Inner dead z 0%
Outer dead z 0%
I would suggest running a custom game with a friend, establish some rules and then grind shots down range. My friend and I do this as a warm-up as well.
We use the Halo 3 remake The Pit and we only engage each other at the camo spawn middle of the map. We mostly never ADS while trying to warm it up as the mechanic for ADS is different than hip fire mechanic. I would also suggest trying this or something similar using the pistol only.
It is important to keep a certain setting for at least 100 kills. Unless it feels so terrible that you cannot get into it.
Proximitty has some decent video’s on youtube that you might find helpful.
If you can find an Octagon map an game type from another player, download it and run through it with a friend. My team hits the Octagon for at least 10 minutes before every practice and we usually end up with 75-100 kills each by the time it’s done. Extremely helpful for getting warmed up and aiming.
That’s probably the 1000th post somebody needs help with aiming. Good job 343. :-p
