Advice on getting better in halo 4? Plz &ty

Hi all,

I wanted to come here asking for advice on how to do better in halo 4. A little background about me. I am a former PC pro gamer that has decided to switch over to xbox… Never had one till now. I have loved the franchise of halo and just got all my achievements for all the halos. Now I want to focus on getting better…

What I notice is I lose a lot of my 1v1 Battles. Like 7 of 10. FFA, Slayer, objective, doesn’t matter, I end up getting owned. It may be due to my lack of experience or connection. But I’ve played halo 4. For over 15 days playing time and still am horrible. If I play solo or with friends It still doesn’t improve my playing ability

I have gone to theatre and looked at my gameplay. It surprises me time and time again how they don’t die but they are able to kill me with little to no effort . I have watched the pros play and take notes to their gameplay. Still haven’t improved.

I am asking you the community to give me some hints or tricks… Or just advice on improving my shot. I play on default settings with 4 sensitivity. Btw I’ve tried higher sensitivity.and different controller layouts. What I use now currently looks best.

I am open to any suggestings. You can friend me if you want to help me on live in customs or mm. Take care and thank you for your time.

I will teach you in Halo 3.

Could be your connection. Halo 4 is tough on foreign host. If I’m playing Rumble Pit on foreign host (which I usually am) I really have to focus to pull off kills most the time.

That said sometimes I can do well. Depends a lot on the opposition your up against as well. If I pull host in Rumble Pit though I almost always score at least in the top 3 or 4.

Edit: I just noticed your csr in Regicide. That’s pretty good if you ask me.

[/li]- Staying alive is almost always more important than getting kills.
Don’t chase down enemies you’ve put a shot or two on.

  • Don’t engage the enemy unless you know you or your team will benefit from it.\

  • Get in the zone; focus, sit up straight.
Also, since you’re less experienced, I’ve noticed it helps if you aren’t talking to anyone, as doing so divides your attention, however slightly.

  • Keep your eyes more open; try not to squint as it slightly impairs vision.

  • Don’t flickshot, take time to line up your shots.

That’s all I can think of.

Definitely staying alive is important and knowing when to push with or without your teammates. Communication is huge in team based games as well. I suggest you watch some pro players play/scrim like Ninja

I took a quick look at your stats and what I saw I doubt that you are playing horrible like you said.
I would say you are a good average player.
Like mentioned before, the reason that you have the feeling of losing so many 1v1 battles, could be your connection to the host.

To get better I would advise you to play custom games with people that are around your level of skill. So you can try out different playstyles, weapons, tactics etc. and finally can figure out what works and fits you best.
After that I would advise you to start playing against people who are a bit better than you. So you can develop and improve your gameplay until you can really compete with them.

Don’t worry about being better. I have been playing Halo since 2004 and I’m still terrible at it.

What only matters is if you have fun, and not being really good.

Try turning down your sensitivity; it makes aiming easier, at the cost of sniping.

Although, Halo 4 pretty much aims for you, so use that to your advantage.

Perhaps make an account and try to ask on the forums over on TeamBeyond.Net. There are usually plenty of competitive players who reply on those boards who can give you advice or would be willing to play.

My 2 cents: You don’t seem like you are not bad but just an average-above average player (much like myself). If you are looking to have the same success in Halo as you did in your PC games, it will probably take time. I probably don’t have any play style tips for you, but I can give you some tips that competitive players have attested to. Bumper Jumper is hard to adjust to, but it is by far the best controller layout for competitive play. Also, if you have difficulty hitting your shots, try moving down to 3 sens. Or alternatively, try warming up in another playlist playing on 5 sens, then when you are ready to go, go back to 4 sens.
